1 ಆ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ) ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜನಸಮೂಹಕ್ಕೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೇನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ--

2 ಜನ ಸಮೂಹವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಕನಿಕರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಮೂರು ದಿನ ಗಳಿಂದ ಇವರು ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೇನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.

3 ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಉಪವಾಸ ವಾಗಿ ಅವರ ಮನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರೆ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಲಿ ಹೋಗುವರು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲ ವರು ದೂರದಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂದನು.

4 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ-- ಒಬ್ಬನು ಈ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ತೃಪ್ತಿಪಡಿಸಾನು ಅಂದರು.

5 ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು --ಏಳು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳು ಇವೆ ಅಂದರು.

6 ಆಗ ಜನರು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಆತನು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಆ ಏಳು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಮಾಡಿ ಮುರಿದು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು; ಅವರು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಿದರು.

7 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಸಣ್ಣ ವಿಾನುಗಳಿದ್ದವು; ಆತನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚು ವಂತೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.

8 ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಿಂದು ತೃಪ್ತರಾ ದರು; ಮುರಿದ ಮಿಕ್ಕತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಏಳು ಪುಟ್ಟಿ ತುಂಬಿದರು.

9 ಊಟಮಾಡಿದವರು ಸುಮಾರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ; ಆತನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

10 ಕೂಡಲೆ ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ದೋಣಿಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿದಲ್ಮನೂಥ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು.

11 ಆಗ ಫರಿಸಾಯರು ಬಂದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿಸು ವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸೂಚಕ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿ ಆತನೊಂದಿಗೆ ತರ್ಕಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.

12 ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ದೀರ್ಘವಾಗಿ ನಿಟ್ಟುಸಿರುಬಿಟ್ಟು--ಈ ಸಂತ ತಿಯು ಸೂಚಕಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವದು ಯಾಕೆ? ಈ ಸಂತತಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಸೂಚಕಕಾರ್ಯವೂ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಡು ವದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.

13 ಆತನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಿರಿಗಿ ದೋಣಿಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ಆಚೇದಡಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದನು.

14 ಆಗ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಮರೆತಿದ್ದರು; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೋಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚೇನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

15 ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಫರಿಸಾಯರ ಹುಳಿಯ ವಿಷಯ ದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹೆರೋದನ ಹುಳಿಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನೀವು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಇರ್ರಿ ಎಂದು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

16 ಆಗ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ--ನಮಗೆ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವದರಿಂದಲೇ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ಅವರು ತರ್ಕಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.

17 ಯೇಸು ಅದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಯಾಕೆ ತರ್ಕಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೀರಿ? ನೀವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಗ್ರಹಿಸದೆಯೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆಯೂ ಇದ್ದೀರೋ? ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಕಠಿಣಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಿರೋ?

18 ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿದ್ದೂ ನೀವು ನೋಡುವದಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಕಿವಿಗಳಿದ್ದೂ ನೀವು ಕೆಳುವ ದಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಮತ್ತು ನೀವು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಿ ಲ್ಲವೋ?

19 ನಾನು ಆ ಐದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ಐದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುರಿದಾಗ ಎಷ್ಟು ಪುಟ್ಟಿಗಳ ತುಂಬ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯ ತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿದಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವರು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಅಂದರು.

20 ಮತ್ತು ಆ ಏಳು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುರಿದಾಗ ಎಷ್ಟು ಪುಟ್ಟಿಗಳ ತುಂಬ ತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿದಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವರು--ಏಳು ಅಂದರು.

21 ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನೀವು ಗ್ರಹಿಸದೆ ಇರುವದು ಹೇಗೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

22 ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನು ಬೇತ್ಸಾಯಿದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವರು ಒಬ್ಬ ಕುರುಡನನ್ನು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

23 ಆತನು ಆ ಕುರುಡನ ಕೈಹಿಡಿದು ಊರಿನ ಹೊರಗೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಗುಳಿ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಏನಾದರೂ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೋ ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.

24 ಅವನು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ನೋಡಿ--ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಮರಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ ನಡೆದಾಡುವದನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.

25 ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನಿಟ್ಟು ಅವನು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ನೋಡುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು; ಆಗ ಅವನು ಗುಣಹೊಂದಿದವನಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿದನು.

26 ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಊರೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಡ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಊರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಹೇಳಬೇಡ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

27 ತರುವಾಯ ಯೇಸುವೂ ಆತನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೂ ಕೈಸ ರೈಯ ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪಿ ಊರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು. ಆತನು ದಾರಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ಜನರು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.

28 ಅವರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುವ ಯೋಹಾನನು; ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೆಲವರು--ಎಲೀಯನು; ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರು--ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

29 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ -- ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ನೀವು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತೀರಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಪೇತ್ರನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನೇ ಅಂದನು.

30 ತನ್ನ ವಿಷಯ ವಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಹೇಳಬಾರದೆಂದು ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

31 ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಕುಮಾರನು ಅನೇಕ ಶ್ರಮೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ರಿಂದಲೂ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಯಾಜಕರಿಂದಲೂ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳಿಂ ದಲೂ ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವನಾಗಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಮೂರು ದಿವಸಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಏಳುವದು ಅವಶ್ಯವೆಂದು ಅವ ರಿಗೆ ಬೋಧಿಸಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದನು.

32 ಆತನು ಆ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಆತನ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದನು.

33 ಆದರೆ ಆತನು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ನೋಡಿ ಪೇತ್ರನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಿ--ಸೈತಾನನೇ ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಯೋಚಿಸುವಂಥದ್ದು ದೇವರವುಗಳಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರವುಗಳೇ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

34 ಆತನು ಜನರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಕೂಡ ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುವದಾದರೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಲುಬೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿ ಸಲಿ.

35 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕೆಂದಿರುವ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಳಕೊಳ್ಳು ವನು; ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಯಾವನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಕಳ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವನೋ ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

36 ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಲೋಕವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡರೂ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ನಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಲಾಭವೇನು?

37 ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಒಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಏನು ಕೊಡುವನು?

38 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರಿಣಿಯಾದ ಈ ಪಾಪಿಷ್ಠ ಸಂತತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಮಾತುಗಳ ವಿಷಯ ವಾಗಿ ನಾಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನೋ ಅವನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯಕುಮಾರನು ಸಹ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮಹಿಮೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ದೂತರೊಡನೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ನಾಚಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,

2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.

4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

10 And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.

14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?

18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

28 And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

1 ಆ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ (ಯೇಸುವನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ) ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜನಸಮೂಹಕ್ಕೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೇನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ--

4 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ-- ಒಬ್ಬನು ಈ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ತೃಪ್ತಿಪಡಿಸಾನು ಅಂದರು.

5 ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು --ಏಳು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳು ಇವೆ ಅಂದರು.

6 ಆಗ ಜನರು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಆತನು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಆ ಏಳು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಮಾಡಿ ಮುರಿದು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು; ಅವರು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಿದರು.

7 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಸಣ್ಣ ವಿಾನುಗಳಿದ್ದವು; ಆತನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚು ವಂತೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.

8 ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಿಂದು ತೃಪ್ತರಾ ದರು; ಮುರಿದ ಮಿಕ್ಕತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಏಳು ಪುಟ್ಟಿ ತುಂಬಿದರು.

9 ಊಟಮಾಡಿದವರು ಸುಮಾರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ; ಆತನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

10 ಕೂಡಲೆ ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ದೋಣಿಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿದಲ್ಮನೂಥ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು.

11 ಆಗ ಫರಿಸಾಯರು ಬಂದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಶೋಧಿಸು ವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸೂಚಕ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೇಳಿ ಆತನೊಂದಿಗೆ ತರ್ಕಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.

12 ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ದೀರ್ಘವಾಗಿ ನಿಟ್ಟುಸಿರುಬಿಟ್ಟು--ಈ ಸಂತ ತಿಯು ಸೂಚಕಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವದು ಯಾಕೆ? ಈ ಸಂತತಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಸೂಚಕಕಾರ್ಯವೂ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಡು ವದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.

13 ಆತನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ತಿರಿಗಿ ದೋಣಿಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ಆಚೇದಡಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋದನು.

14 ಆಗ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಮರೆತಿದ್ದರು; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ದೋಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚೇನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

15 ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಫರಿಸಾಯರ ಹುಳಿಯ ವಿಷಯ ದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹೆರೋದನ ಹುಳಿಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನೀವು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಇರ್ರಿ ಎಂದು ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

16 ಆಗ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ--ನಮಗೆ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವದರಿಂದಲೇ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ಅವರು ತರ್ಕಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.

17 ಯೇಸು ಅದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಯಾಕೆ ತರ್ಕಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೀರಿ? ನೀವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಗ್ರಹಿಸದೆಯೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳದೆಯೂ ಇದ್ದೀರೋ? ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಕಠಿಣಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಿರೋ?

18 ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳಿದ್ದೂ ನೀವು ನೋಡುವದಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಕಿವಿಗಳಿದ್ದೂ ನೀವು ಕೆಳುವ ದಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಮತ್ತು ನೀವು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಿ ಲ್ಲವೋ?

19 ನಾನು ಆ ಐದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ಐದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುರಿದಾಗ ಎಷ್ಟು ಪುಟ್ಟಿಗಳ ತುಂಬ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯ ತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿದಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವರು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಅಂದರು.

20 ಮತ್ತು ಆ ಏಳು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುರಿದಾಗ ಎಷ್ಟು ಪುಟ್ಟಿಗಳ ತುಂಬ ತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿದಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವರು--ಏಳು ಅಂದರು.

21 ಯೇಸು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನೀವು ಗ್ರಹಿಸದೆ ಇರುವದು ಹೇಗೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

22 ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನು ಬೇತ್ಸಾಯಿದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವರು ಒಬ್ಬ ಕುರುಡನನ್ನು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.

23 ಆತನು ಆ ಕುರುಡನ ಕೈಹಿಡಿದು ಊರಿನ ಹೊರಗೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಗುಳಿ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಟ್ಟು ಏನಾದರೂ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೋ ಎಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.

24 ಅವನು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ನೋಡಿ--ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಮರಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ ನಡೆದಾಡುವದನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.

25 ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳನ್ನಿಟ್ಟು ಅವನು ಮೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ನೋಡುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು; ಆಗ ಅವನು ಗುಣಹೊಂದಿದವನಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿದನು.

26 ತರುವಾಯ ಆತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಊರೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಡ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಊರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಹೇಳಬೇಡ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

27 ತರುವಾಯ ಯೇಸುವೂ ಆತನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರೂ ಕೈಸ ರೈಯ ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪಿ ಊರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು. ಆತನು ದಾರಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ಜನರು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.

28 ಅವರು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುವ ಯೋಹಾನನು; ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೆಲವರು--ಎಲೀಯನು; ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವರು--ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

29 ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ -- ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಯಾರೆಂದು ನೀವು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತೀರಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಪೇತ್ರನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನೇ ಅಂದನು.

30 ತನ್ನ ವಿಷಯ ವಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಹೇಳಬಾರದೆಂದು ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಖಂಡಿತವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.

31 ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಕುಮಾರನು ಅನೇಕ ಶ್ರಮೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ರಿಂದಲೂ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಯಾಜಕರಿಂದಲೂ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಗಳಿಂ ದಲೂ ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವನಾಗಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಮೂರು ದಿವಸಗಳಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಏಳುವದು ಅವಶ್ಯವೆಂದು ಅವ ರಿಗೆ ಬೋಧಿಸಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದನು.

32 ಆತನು ಆ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಆತನ ಕೈ ಹಿಡಿದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದನು.

33 ಆದರೆ ಆತನು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಕಡೆಗೆ ನೋಡಿ ಪೇತ್ರನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಿ--ಸೈತಾನನೇ ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನೀನು ಯೋಚಿಸುವಂಥದ್ದು ದೇವರವುಗಳಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರವುಗಳೇ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

34 ಆತನು ಜನರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರ ಕೂಡ ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುವದಾದರೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಲುಬೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿ ಸಲಿ.

35 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕೆಂದಿರುವ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಳಕೊಳ್ಳು ವನು; ಆದರೆ ನನ್ನ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿಯೂ ಯಾವನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಕಳ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವನೋ ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.

36 ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಲೋಕವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡರೂ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಆತ್ಮವನ್ನು ನಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಲಾಭವೇನು?

37 ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಒಬ್ಬನು ತನ್ನ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಏನು ಕೊಡುವನು?

38 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರಿಣಿಯಾದ ಈ ಪಾಪಿಷ್ಠ ಸಂತತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಮಾತುಗಳ ವಿಷಯ ವಾಗಿ ನಾಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನೋ ಅವನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮನುಷ್ಯಕುಮಾರನು ಸಹ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮಹಿಮೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧ ದೂತರೊಡನೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ನಾಚಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,

2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.

4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

10 And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.

14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?

18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

28 And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
