ಯೋಹಾನನು ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಪಾಪಗಳ ಪರಿ ಹಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮಾನಸಾಂತರದ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮವನ್ನು ಸಾರಿದನು.

ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯೋಹಾನನು ಸಹ ಸಲೀಮಿನ ಸವಿಾಪ ದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಐನೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ನೀರು ಇತ್ತು; ಅವರು (ಜನರು) ಬಂದು ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
