ಹೇಬೆಲನ ರಕ್ತ ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗೂ ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೂ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹತವಾದ ಜಕರೀಯನ ರಕ್ತದವರೆಗೂ ಈ ಸಂತತಿಯು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡಬೇಕು; ಹೌದು, ಈ ಸಂತತಿಯವರೇ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ.

ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಹೇಬೆಲನು ಕಾಯಿನನ ಯಜ್ಞ ಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಅತಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಸಮ ರ್ಪಿಸಿದನು. ಅದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಅವನು ನೀತಿವಂತ ನೆಂದು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೊಂದಿದನು: ದೇವರು ಅವನ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಗಳ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು; ಅವನು ಸತ್ತವನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದರಿಂದ ಇನ್ನೂ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಕೆಡುಕ ನಾಗಿದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದ ಕಾಯಿನ ನಂತೆ ಅಲ್ಲ. ಯಾವ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದನು? ತನ್ನ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳು ಕೆಟ್ಟವುಗಳೂ ತನ್ನ ತಮ್ಮನ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳು ನೀತಿಯುಳ್ಳವುಗಳೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದದರಿಂದಲೇ.

ಆಗ ಕಾಯಿನನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಹೇಬೆಲನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು; ತರುವಾಯ ಆದದ್ದೇ ನಂದರೆ, ಅವರು ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಕಾಯಿನನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಹೇಬೆಲನಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು.

ಆಗ ದೇವರ ಆತ್ಮನು ಯಾಜಕನಾಗಿ ರುವ ಯೆಹೋಯಾದನ ಮಗನಾದ ಜೆಕರ್ಯನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದನು. ಅವನು ಜನರೊಳಗೆ ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನೀವು ವೃದ್ಧಿಹೊಂದ ಕೂಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕರ್ತನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಾರುವದೇನು? ನೀವು ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ ಅಂದನು.

ಹೊಸಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಗೆ ಮಧ್ಯಸ್ಥನಾಗಿರುವ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೂ ಹೇಬೆಲನ ರಕ್ತಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹಿತಕರವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಪ್ರೋಕ್ಷಣ ರಕ್ತದ ಬಳಿಗೂ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೀರಿ.
