ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಸಭೆಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ಶೀಲೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸಭೆಯ ಗುಡಾರವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು. ದೇಶವು ಅವರ ವಶವಾಯಿತು.

ಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಎಲಿಯಾ ಜರನೂ ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಶೀಲೋವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಭೆಯ ಗುಡಾರದ ಬಾಗಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಚೀಟು ಹಾಕಿ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳು ಇವೇ. ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಪೂರೈಸಿದರು.

ಆಗ ನಾನು ಈ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಶಿಲೋವಿನ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನಾಂಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಶಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಯಾಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.

ಅವನು ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳ ಕರ್ತ ನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಆತನಿಗೆ ಬಲಿಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಪ್ರತಿ ವರುಷ ತನ್ನ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಶೀಲೋವಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಕರ್ತನ ಯಾಜಕ ರಾದ ಹೊಫ್ನಿಯೂ ಫೀನೆಹಾಸನೂ ಎಂಬ ಏಲಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಬ್ಬರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರು.

ನಾವು ವಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪಶುಗಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಅವುಗಳ ಉಪನಗರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಮಗೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕರ್ತನು ಮೋಶೆಯ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ ದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದರು.

ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ಕರ್ತನು ಶೀಲೋ ವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಏಲಿಯ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಹೇಳಿದ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ಈಡೇರುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನು ಎಬ್ಯಾತಾರನನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಯಾಜಕನಾಗಿರದ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.

ಜನರು ಪಾಳೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು--ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಕರ್ತನು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಸಿ ದ್ದೇನು? ಕರ್ತನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವು ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾವು ಅದನ್ನು ಶೀಲೋವಿನಿಂದ ತರಿಸೋಣ ಅಂದರು.
