Jonah 1:12
ಅವನು ಅವ ರಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಸಮುದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿರಿ, ಆಗ ಸಮುದ್ರವು ನಿಮಗೆ ಶಾಂತವಾಗುವದು; ನನ್ನ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಈ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂತೆಂದು ಬಲ್ಲೆನು ಅಂದನು.

ದಾವೀದನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ--ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕ ಮಾಡಲು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದವನು ನಾನಲ್ಲವೋ? ನಾನೇ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಈ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಕುರಿಗಳಾದ ಇವರು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನು? ನನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ದಯದಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಮನೆಯ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಇರಲಿ. ಆದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಜನರು ಬಾಧೆಪಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೇಡ ಅಂದನು.

ಆದದ ರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಾರದೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೆನ್ನುಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಶಾಪಕ್ಕೀಡಾದರು. ನೀವು ಶಾಪ ಕ್ಕೀಡಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಂದ ನಾಶಮಾಡದೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಇನ್ನು ಮೇಲೆ ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವದಿಲ್ಲ.
