ದಾವೀದನು ಊರೀಯನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳಕೋ ಅಂದನು. ಊರೀಯನು ಅರಸನ ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಡುವಾಗ ಅರಸನ ಭೋಜನವು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡವೇ ಹೋಯಿತು.

ಇಗೋ, ಪ್ರಭುಗಳೇ, ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ದಾಸನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಳೆಯಿರಿ; ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ; ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಹೋಗಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು--ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ; ನಾವು ರಾತ್ರಿಯೆಲ್ಲಾ ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುತ್ತೇವೆ ಅಂದರು.
