ಆಗ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾಖೀನನೂ ಅವನ ತಾಯಿಯೂ ಸೇವ ಕರೂ ಪ್ರಧಾನರೂ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯರೂ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು. ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಆಳಿಕೆಯ ಎಂಟನೇ ವರುಷ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದನು.

ಅವನು ಕರ್ತನ ಸಮ್ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಒಂದು ವರುಷವು ತೀರಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ಜನರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನೂ ಕರ್ತನ ಆಲಯದ ಬೆಲೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬಾಬೆ ಲಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ತರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರ ನಾದ ಚಿದ್ಕೀಯನನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು.

ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋ ಯಾಖೀನನ ಸೆರೆಯ ಮೂವತ್ತೇಳನೇ ವರುಷದ ಹನ್ನೆರಡನೇ ತಿಂಗಳಿನ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳನೇ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾಯಿತಂದರೆ, ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಎವಿಲ್ಮೆ ರೋದಕನು ಆಳಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ ವರುಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾ ಖೀನನನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸಿ

ಇದರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುವದಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಅವರಿಗೆ ಎದುರು ಬೀಳುವ ಮನೆಯವರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳು--ಇಗೋ, ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅದರ ಅರಸ ನನ್ನೂ ಅದರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರನ್ನೂ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಾಬೆಲಿಗೆ ಒಯ್ದಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನ ಮೊದಲನೇ ವರುಷವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂ ದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋಷೀಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋ ಯಾಕೀಮನ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ವರುಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜನರ ವಿಷಯ ಯೆರೆವಿಾಯನಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ವಾಕ್ಯವು.

ಆಗ ಯೆರೆವಿಾಯನು ಚಿದ್ಕೀಯನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ--ನೀನು ನಿಶ್ಚಯ ವಾಗಿ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನ ಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಬದುಕುವದು. ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಡ ಲ್ಪಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಮತ್ತು ನೀನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯವರೂ ಬದುಕುವಿರಿ.
