ಅವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಧಾನರನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯುಳ್ಳ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿ ಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಸೆರೆಯವರನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಾರರನ್ನೂ ಕಮ್ಮಾರರನ್ನೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಒಯ್ದನು; ದೇಶದ ಬಡವರ ಹೊರತು ಉಳಿದವರು ಯಾರೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಥಿತಿವಂತರಾದ ಏಳುಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಾರರೂ ಮತ್ತು ಕಮ್ಮಾರರೂ ಆದ ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡತಕ್ಕವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಬಾಬೆಲಿಗೆ ಸೆರೆಯಾಗಿ ಒಯ್ದನು.

ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ನೆಬೂಕದ್ನೆಚ್ಚರನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಯಾ ಕೀಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಕೊನ್ಯನನ್ನೂ ಯೆಹೂದದ ಪ್ರಧಾನರನ್ನೂ ಬಡಗಿಯವರನ್ನೂ ಕಮ್ಮಾರರನೂ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಿಂದ ಸೆರೆಗೆ ಒಯ್ದು ಬಾಬೆಲಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡುಹೋದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕರ್ತನು ನನಗೆ ತೋರಿಸ ಲಾಗಿ, ಅಗೋ, ಎರಡು ಪುಟ್ಟಿ ಅಂಜೂರದ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕರ್ತನ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಮುಂದೆ ಇದ್ದವು.

ಯೆಹೋಯಾಕೀನನು ಆಳಲು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದಾಗ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ವರುಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ತಿಂಗಳು ಹತ್ತು ದಿವಸ ಆಳಿದನು.

ಜೀಫ್ಯರು ಗಿಬೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಸೌಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದುದಾವೀದನು ನಮ್ಮ ಪಕ್ಷವಾಗಿಯೇ ಯೆಷಿಮೋನಿನ ದಕ್ಷಿಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಕೀಲಾ ಗುಡ್ಡದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಘೋರಾರಣ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲವೇ?
