1 Samuel 9:2
ಇವನಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥ ನಾದ ಸೌಲನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸುಂದರನಾದ ಮಗನಿದ್ದನು. ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗಿಂತ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವುಳ್ಳವನು ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಜನರ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಹೆಗಲೂ ತಲೆಯೂ ಕಾಣುವಷ್ಟು ಎತ್ತರವಾದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

ಆದರೆ ಕರ್ತನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಅವನ ರೂಪವನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ದೇಹದ ಉದ್ದವನ್ನೂ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಸಬೇಡ; ಅವನನ್ನು ನಾನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದೆನು; ಕರ್ತನು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಂತೆ ಹೊರಗಿನ ತೋರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನೋಡದೆ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನೇ ನೋಡುವನು ಅಂದನು.

ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಹೊಗಳಲ್ಪ ಡತಕ್ಕ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ವುಳ್ಳವನು ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನ ಅಂಗಾಲು ಮೊದಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ನಡುನೆತ್ತಿಯ ವರೆಗೂ ಅವನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಕಳಂಕವಾದರೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಇತ್ತು.
