ಆಗ ಅವರು--ಅಪ ರಾಧ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯಾಗಿ ನಾವು ಅದರ ಸಂಗಡ ಕಳುಹಿಸ ತಕ್ಕದ್ದೇನು ಅಂದರು. ಅದಕ್ಕವರು--ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಅಧಿ ಪತಿಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಗಡ್ಡೆವ್ಯಾಧಿಯ ವಿಧವಾದ ಐದು ಬಂಗಾರದ ಗಡ್ಡೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಐದು ಇಲಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿರಿ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮೆ ಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಒಂದೇ ತರವಾದ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯು ಅದೆ.

ಅವಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ಬಂದು ಅವಳಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಮರುಳುಗೊಳಿಸಿ, ನಾವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಯಾವ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಗೆದ್ದು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಬಾಧಿಸಬಹುದೆಂದು ಅವನ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಯಾವದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅದೆ ಎಂದೂ ನೋಡು; ನಾವು ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರು ನಿನಗೆ ಸಾವಿರದ ನೂರು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ನಾಣ್ಯ ಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವೆವು ಅಂದರು.

ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ದಾಗೋನನಿಗೆ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಬಲಿಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದರು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ--ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರು ನಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುವಾದ ಸಂಸೋನನನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡರು.

ಅವರು ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷವನ್ನು ಎಕ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು. ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷವು ಎಕ್ರೋನಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಆದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ, ಎಕ್ರೋನ್ಯರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಬೇಕೆಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ದೇವರ ಮಂಜೂಷವನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದರೆಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

ಆಗ ಹಸುಗಳು ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾ ಬೇತ್ಷೆಮೆಷಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಬಲಕ್ಕೆ ಎಡಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗದೆ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋದವು; ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ಬೇತ್ಷೆಮೆಷಿನ ಮೇರೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಅವುಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋದರು.
