ಆದಕಾರಣ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಆಯುಧ ಹಿಡಿಯುವವನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದವರು ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಿವಿದುಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅವಮಾನ ಮಾಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿರಿದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅದರಿಂದ ತಿವಿ ಅಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಆಯುಧ ಹಿಡಿಯು ವವನು ಬಹು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡ ಲೊಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ತಾನೇ ಕತ್ತಿ ಯನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದನು.

ಆಗ ಯೋನಾತಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನಿಗೆ--ನಾವು ಈ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದವರ ಠಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ದಾಟಿಹೋಗೋಣ ಬಾ; ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ದೇವರು ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಡಿಸುವನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅನೇಕ ಜನರಿಂದಾದರೂ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಜನರಿಂದಾದರೂ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಆಟಂಕವಿಲ್ಲ ಅಂದನು.

ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯುವವನಿಗೆ ಈ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದವರು ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಪಮಾನ ಮಾಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿರಿದು ಅದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ತಿವಿ ಅಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಆಯುಧ ಹಿಡಿಯುವವನು ಬಹು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ ಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದನು.

ಅಹೀತೋಫೆಲನು ತನ್ನ ಯೋಚನೆಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ನಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ತನ್ನ ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಡಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಏರಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕ್ರಮಪಡಿಸಿ ಉರ್ಲುಹಾಕಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಸತ್ತು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು.

ಆಗ ದಾವೀ ದನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಕರ್ತನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಲು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಚಾಚುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಭಯಪಡದೆ ಇದ್ದದ್ದು ಹೇಗೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಹೀಗೆಯೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನು ಆ ಸಿಂಹವನ್ನೂ ಆ ಕರಡಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದು ಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಭಟಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದರ ಹಾಗೆ ಆಗುವನು ಅಂದನು.

ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ--ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ನಿಂದೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಬಿಡುವ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡಲ್ಪಡುವದು? ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಈ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯನು ಜೀವವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರ ಸೈನ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೀಯಾ ಳಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಷ್ಟರವನು ಅಂದನು.
ಯೆಹೆಜ್ಕೇಲನು 44:7

ಗತ್ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಅಷ್ಕೆಲೋನಿನ ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರ ಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಯರು ಸಂತೋಷ ಪಟ್ಟಾರಲ್ಲಾ; ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದವರ ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಯರು ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಪಟ್ಟಾರಲ್ಲಾ.

ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದೆನು. ಅವನು ನನಗೆ -- ನೀನು ದಯಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಂತು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವು ಇನ್ನೂ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ಣ ವಾಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಸಂಕಟವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಿತು ಅಂದನು.

ಅವನಿಗೆ ವರ್ತ ಮಾನ ಹೇಳಿದ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನು--ನಾನು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಗಿಲ್ಬೋವ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೆನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಗೋ, ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಈಟಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಆತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು. ಆಗ ಇಗೋ, ರಥಗಳೂ ರಾಹುತರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡೇ ಇದ್ದರು.
