1 Samuel 10:22
ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಈಗ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬರುವನೋ ಎಂದು ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದರು. ಕರ್ತನು--ಇಗೋ, ಅವನು ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೌಲನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರ ವಾಗಿ--ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಗೋತ್ರದವನಲ್ಲವೇ? ಇದ ಲ್ಲದೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಗೋತ್ರವು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಗೋತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಗೋತ್ರವು ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾದದ್ದಲ್ಲವೇ? ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ಹೀಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೀ ಅಂದನು.

ನಮ್ಮ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗ ಬೇಕೋ ಬೇಡವೋ ಎಂದು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕೊಂಡರು. ಕರ್ತನು--ಹೋಗಿರಿ; ನಾಳೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವೆನು ಅಂದನು.

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರ್ತನು--ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋಗಿರಿ ಅಂದನು). ಎರಡನೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮನು ಷ್ಯರು ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಎದ್ದು ದೇವರ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗ ಬೇಕಾ ದವರು ಯಾರೆಂದು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರ್ತನು -- ಯೊಹೂದ ಕುಲದವರು ಮೊದಲು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.

ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಸತ್ತ ತರುವಾಯ ಆದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ--ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಮೊದಲು ನಮಗಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವವರು ಯಾರು ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
