ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಜನರನ್ನು ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ--

ಸಮುವೇಲನು--ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೋಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟುಕೂಡಿ ಬಂದು ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆ ನೀರು ತಂದು ಹೊಯ್ದು ಆ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪವಾಸಮಾಡಿ--
