ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯಾಜಕನಾದ ಚಾದೋಕನೂ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯಾದ ನಾತಾನನೂ ಯೆಹೋಯಾದಾವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಬೆನಾಯನೂ ಕೆರೆತ್ಯರೂ ಪೆಲೇತ್ಯರೂ ಹೋಗಿ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನನ್ನು ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀ ದನ ಹೇಸರ ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿಸಿ ಗೀಹೋನಿಗೆ ಕರತಂದರು.

ಶವ್ಷನು ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ಯೆಹೋಯಾದನ ಮಗನಾದ ಬೆನಾಯನು ಕೆರೇತ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಪೆಲೇತ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅಧಿಪತಿ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದನು. ದಾವೀದನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಸಮುದ್ರತೀರದ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳಾದ ಕೆರೇತ್ಯರ ಜನಾಂಗಕ್ಕೆ ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಕರ್ತನ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ನಿಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿದೆ; ಓ ಕಾನಾನೇ, ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದೇಶವೇ, ನಿವಾಸಿಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡುವೆನು.
