ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ರಾಮಾತಯಿಮ್ ಚೊಫೀಮನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಕಾನನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಎಫ್ರಾ ಯಾಮ್ಯನಾದ ಚೂಫನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ ತೋಹು ವಿನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಎಲೀಹುವಿನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆರೋಹಾಮನ ಮಗನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

ದಾವೀದನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮ್ ಊರಿನ ಎಫ್ರಾತ್ಯನಾದ ಇಷಯನೆಂಬವನ ಮಗನಾ ಗಿದ್ದನು. ಈ ಇಷಯನಿಗೆ ಎಂಟು ಮಂದಿ ಕುಮಾರ ರಿದ್ದರು. ಇವನು ಸೌಲನ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರೊಳಗೆ ವೃದ್ಧನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.

ಅವರು ಚೂಫ್ ಎಂಬ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಇರುವ ಚಿಂತೆಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಚಿಂತೆಪಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾವು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.

ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯರು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರ ಮುಂದುಗಡೆ ಇರುವ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ರೇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದರು. ಆಗ ಏನಾಯಿತಂದರೆ--ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಬಂದು--ದಾಟುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ; ಗಿಲ್ಯಾ ದ್ಯರು--ನೀನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯನೋ? ಎಂದು ಅವ ನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು--ಅಲ್ಲ ಅಂದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ನೀವು--ಷಿಬ್ಬೋಲೆತ್ ಅನ್ನಬೇಕು ಅಂದರು.
ಯೆಹೋಶುವ 24:33
ಆರೋ ನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಲೀಯಾಜರನು ಸತ್ತನು; ಅವ ನನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಫೀನೆಹಾಸನಿಗೆ ಎಫ್ರಾ ಯಾಮ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ಗುಡ್ಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟರು.

ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಯೋಸೇಫನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾದ ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮನಿಗೂ ಮನಸ್ಸೆಗೂ--ನೀವು ಮಹಾ ಜನಾಂಗವೂ ಬಹು ಬಲವುಳ್ಳವರೂ ಆಗಿರುವಿರಿ. ಒಂದೇ ಭಾಗ ನಿಮಗೆ ಇರಬಾರದು. ಆದರೆ ಪರ್ವತವು ನಿಮ್ಮದಾಗಿರುವದು;
