ದಾವೀದನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಬತ್ಷೆಬೆಯನ್ನು ಆದರಿಸಿ ಅವಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಲಗಿದನು.ಅವಳು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು. ಕರ್ತನು ಅವ ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿದನು.

ಕರ್ತನು ನಾತಾನನನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ಒಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿದ್ದರು; ಒಬ್ಬನು ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನು, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು ಬಡವನು.

ಇಷಯನಿಂದ ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದನು. ಅರಸನಾದ ದಾವೀದನಿಂದ ಊರೀಯನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದವಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದನು;
