Joshua 8:17
ಆಯಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬೇತೇಲಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲಿನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗದ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ತೆರೆದಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದರು.

ಆಗ ಆಯಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗಲು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಯುದ್ಧಸ್ಥರೂ ಎದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಾದ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಆದುಕೊಂಡು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಿಸಿದ ಆಯಿಯ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರು ಬಿದ್ದು ಮುಗಿಯುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಬೈಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ತೀರಿದ ತರುವಾಯ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಆಯಿಗೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯ ಬಾಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದರು.
