ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಪಾಳತಿ ನೋಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ-- ನೀವು ಸೂಳೆಯಾದ ಹೆಂಗಸಿನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವಳನ್ನೂ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಅರಸನ ಸಂತಾನ ದವರನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿಸಿ ದೇಶದ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

ಸಭೆಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಸಭೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟಿದರು.

ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಪಾಳತಿ ನೋಡುವವರಾದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಶಿಟ್ಟೀಮಿನಿಂದ ಗುಪ್ತ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಯೆರಿಕೋವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಅವರು ಹೋಗಿ ರಾಹಾಬಳೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೂಳೆಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
