ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾಬೆಲ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಭಾಷೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗಲಿಬಿಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು; ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಚದರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
