ಅವರು ಬಂದು ಅವನು ಇದ್ದ ಆಬೇಲ್ಬೇತ್ಮಾಕನ್ನು ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆದುರಾಗಿ ಕಂದಕದ ಗುಡ್ಡೆಯವರೆಗೆ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ದಿಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಂಗಡಲಿರುವ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನು ಕೆಡವುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಡೆ ದರು.

ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ಕೋಟೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ದಿಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟು; ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಒಂದು ದಂಡನ್ನು ಇರಿಸಿ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಭಿತ್ತಿಭೇದಕ ಮಾಡು ವಂಥ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಇಡು.

ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಶತೃಗಳು ನಿನ್ನ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಕಂದಕವನ್ನು ತೋಡಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಕಡೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಒಳಗೆ ಇರಿಸುವ ದಿನಗಳು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವವು.
