ಯೆಹೂ ದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಹಜ್ಯನ ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನೀವು ಯಾರು ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕವರು--ನಾವು ಅಹಜ್ಯನ ಸಹೋದರರು; ಅರಸನ ಮಕ್ಕ ಳನ್ನೂ ರಾಣಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ವಂದಿಸಲು ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ ಅಂದರು.

ಯೆಹೋರಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದನ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಿಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು; ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹಜ್ಯನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅರಸನಾದನು.

ಯೋರಾಮನು ರಥಹೂಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅವನ ರಥವು ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಯಿತು. ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಯೋರಾಮನೂ ಯೆಹೂ ದದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಅಹಜ್ಯನೂ ಹೊರಟು ಅವನವನು ತನ್ನ ತನ್ನ ರಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಏರಿ ಯೇಹುವಿಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟು ಇಜ್ರೇಲ್ಯನಾದ ನಾಬೋತನ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸಿದರು.

ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಅವನ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹಜ್ಯ ನನ್ನು ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ದಂಡಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ಅರಬ್ಬಿಯರ ಗುಂಪು ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ ದರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಯೆಹೋರಾಮನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹಜ್ಯನು ಯೆಹೂದದ ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ಆಳಿದನು.
