નૂહ અને તેનો પરિવાર જળપ્રલયથી બચવા માંટે વહાણમાં ચાલ્યા ગયાં. નૂહની પત્ની, તેના પુત્રો અને પુત્રવધૂઓ તેમની સાથે હતાં.

નૂહના સમય દરમ્યાન જ્યારે તે દિવસે નૂહ વહાણમાં પ્રવેશ્યો તે દિવસ સુધી લોકો ખાતા પીતા પરણતા અને પરણાવતા હતા. પછી રેલ આવી અને બધા લોકોનો નાશ થયો.

2 પિતરનો પત્ર 2:5
જે અનિષ્ટ લોકો બહુ વખત પહેલા જીવતા હતા, દેવે તેઓને પણ શિક્ષા કરી. અધર્મી દુનિયાને પણ દેવે છોડી નહિ. દેવ જગત પર જળપ્રલય લાવ્યો. પરંતુ દેવે નૂહ અને તેની સાથેનાં સાત માણસોને બચાવી લધા. નૂહ એ વ્યક્તિ હતો કે જેણે લોકોને ન્યાયી જીવન જીવવા કહ્યું હતું.

જળપ્રલય થયો તે પહેલા લોકો ખાતાપીતા અને પરણાવતા, આ બધુજ નૂહ વહાણ પર ન ચઢયો ત્યાં સુધી બનતું રહ્યું.

ઊત્પત્તિ 7:1
પછી યહોવાએ નૂહને કહ્યું, “મેં જોયું છે કે, આ સમયે પાપી લોકોમાં તું જ એક ન્યાયી વ્યકિત છે એટલે તું તારા પરિવારને ભેગો કર. અને તમે બધા વહાણમાં જાઓ.

ઊત્પત્તિ 6:18
પણ હું તારી સાથે એક વિશિષ્ટ કરાર કરીશ. તારા પુત્રો, તારી પત્ની, અને તારા પુત્રોની પત્નીઓ પણ તારી સાથે વહાણમાં આવશે.

1 પિતરનો પત્ર 3:20
તે એ આત્માઓ હતા કે જેમણે ઘણો વખત પહેલા એટલે કે નૂહના સમયમાં દેવની અવજ્ઞા કરનારા હતા. જ્યારે નૂહ વહાણ બાંધી રહ્યો હતો ત્યારે દેવ ધીરજપૂર્વક રાહ જોઈ રહ્યો હતો. તે વહાણમાં માત્ર થોડાક જ લોકોને બચાવવામાં આવ્યા હતા. તેઓ આઠ જણ હતા. તે લોકો પાણીથી બચાવી લેવાયા.

હિબ્રૂઓને પત્ર 11:7
નૂહે પણ દેવમાં વિશ્વાસ રાખ્યો અને જે વસ્તુ તેણે જોઈ નહોતી એવી બાબતોની ચેતવણી તેને આપવામાં આવી, ત્યારે તેણે પોતાના પરિવારને બચાવવા માટે દેવનો ડર રાખીને વિશ્વાસથી પોતાના પરિવારના તારણ માટે વહાણ તૈયાર કર્યુ. તેથી તેણે જગતને દોષિત ઠરાવ્યું અને વિશ્વાસથી જે ન્યાયીપણું મળે છે તેનો તે વારસો થયો.

હિબ્રૂઓને પત્ર 6:18
પેલી બે વસ્તુ કદી બદલાતી નથી. એક તો દેવ કઈક કહે છે ત્યારે તે કદી અસત્ય હોતું નથી અને જ્યારે તે સમ લે છે ત્યારે તે જૂઠા હોઈ શકે નહિ.આ બે બાબતો આપણને દિલાસો આપે છે કે આશાને વળગી રહેવા દેવ પાસે આશ્રય માટે આવનારને સલામતી આશ્રય અને સામથ્યૅ મળે છે.

નીતિવચનો 22:3
ડાહ્યો વ્યકિત આફતને આવતી જોઇને સંતાઇ જાય છે. મૂર્ખ વ્યકિત આગળ વધતી રહે છે અને દંડાય છે.

બરાબર તે જ દિવસે નૂહ તેની પત્ની, તેના પુત્રો, શેમ, હામ, અને યાફેથ અને તેમની પત્નીઓ વહાણમાં ગયાં.
