પછી રાજા ઊઠયો અને નગરના દરવાજા આગળ જઈને બેઠો, પછી લોકોને ખબર પડી કે તે ત્યાં છે તો લોકો રાજાની પાસે આવ્યાં.દરમ્યાનમાં આબ્શાલોમના અનુયાયીઓ ઇસ્રાએલીઓ પોતાને ઘેર ભાગી ગયા.

દાઉદના સૈન્ય આગળ ઇસ્રાએલના સૈન્યની હાર થઈ. આબ્શાલોમના માંણસો હારી ગયા. એ હાર એવી ભંયકર હતી કે તે દિવસે 20,000 માંણસોએ પોતાના પ્રાણ ગુમાંવ્યા.
