આ રીતે યહોશુઆએ સંપૂર્ણ ભૂમિ હરાવી: પહાડી દેશ, નેગેબ, પશ્ચિમની તળેટીઓ, ઢોળાવો અને તેમના બધા રાજાઓ. તેણે કોઈને જીવતા જવા દીધાં નહિં. ઇસ્રાએલના દેવ યહોવાની આજ્ઞા પ્રમાંણે તેમણે એકએક પ્રાણીનો નાશ કર્યો.

પરંતુ ગિબયોનના લોકોએ યહોશુઆને ગિલ્ગાલની છાવણીમાં સંદેશો મોકલાવ્યો કે, “અમે તમાંરા દાસો છીએ, અમને એકલા ન મૂકશો, વહેલા અમાંરી તરફ આવો અને અમાંરું રક્ષણ કરો, કારણ કે પર્વતીય પ્રદેશમાં બધા અમોરી રાજાઓ અમાંરી વિરુદ્ધ એક થઈ ગયા છે.”
