ત્યારે બંદીવાસમાં ગયેલાઓમાંના બાકી રહેલા વડીલો, ત્યાંના યાજકો, પ્રબોધકો તથા જે લોકોને નબૂખાદનેસ્સાર યરૂશાલેમમાંથી બાબિલમાં લઇ ગયો હતો.

બાબિલના રાજા નબૂખાદનેસ્સારે યહૂદિયાના નવા રાજા તરીકે યહોયાકીમ રાજાના પુત્ર કોન્યાની નિમણૂંક કરી નહિ, પણ તેને બદલે તેણે યોશિયાના પુત્ર સિદકિયાની પસંદગી કરી.
