એક દિવસ ઈસુ મંદિરમાં હતો. તે લોકોને બોધ આપતો હતો. ઈસુ દેવના રાજ્ય વિષેની સુવાર્તા લોકોને કહેતો હતો. ત્યારે મુખ્ય યાજકો, શાસ્ત્રીઓ અને વૃદ્ધ યહૂદિ આગેવાનો પણ ઈસુ સાથે વાત કરવા આવ્યા.

મુખ્ય યાજકો અને શાસ્ત્રીઓએ આ બાબતો સાંભળી. તેઓ ઈસુને મારી નાખવાનો રસ્તો શોધવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરવા લાગ્યા. તેઓ ઈસુથી ડરતા હતા. કારણ કે બધા લોકો તેના ઉપદેશથી અચરજ પામતા હતા.
