Jeremiah 34:3
તું જાતે ભાગી શકશે નહિ. પણ તને બંદી બનાવી લઇ જવાશે અને બાબિલના રાજાને સુપ્રત કરી દેવામાં આવશે. તારે તેને મોઢામોઢ મળવાનું થશે અને તે તારી સાથે વાત કરશે. તે તને બાબિલમાં બંધક તરીકે લઇ જશે.

આખરે, નબૂખાદનેસ્સારના સૈન્યએ નગરના કોટમાં ગાબડું પાડયું અને તે રાત્રે તેમાંથી સિદકિયા અને તેના માણસો, બે દિવાલોની વચ્ચે આવેલા એક ગુપ્ત દરવાજામાંથી રાજાના બગીચાના માગેર્ શહેરમાં ચારે બાજુ બાબિલવાસીઓ હતાં તે છતાં પણ, રણ તરફ નાસી ગયા.

સિદકિયા રાજાને તથા તેના સૈન્યને તેની ખબર પડી કે નગર જીતી લેવાયું છે, ત્યારે તેઓ રાજાના બગીચાના રસ્તા પરથી ભાગી ગયા. તેઓએ બે દીવાલો વચ્ચેના દરવાજામાંથી નગર છોડ્યું અને યરદન નદી તરફ આગળ વધ્યાં.

પરંતુ જો તમે બહાર જઇ તેને શરણે નહિ જાઓ, તો તેઓનું સૈન્ય આ નગરને આગ લગાડશે અને તમે તેઓનાં હાથમાંથી બચવા નહિ પામો.”‘

સમય જતાં સિદકિયા રાજાએ ગુપ્ત રીતે મહેલમાં તેડી મંગાવ્યો. રાજાએ તેને પૂછયું કે, “આજના દિવસોમાં શું યહોવા તરફથી તને કોઇ સંદેશો મળ્યો છે?”યમિર્યાએ કહ્યું, “હા, સંદેશો મળ્યો છે. બાબિલના રાજાથી તું હાર પામશે.”
