Isaiah 7:17
“એફ્રાઇમ યહૂદાથી જુદો પડ્યો ત્યાર પછી આવ્યા નહોતા એવા દિવસો યહોવા તારા પર, તારી પ્રજા પર તથા તારા બાપના કુટુંબ પર લાવશે. તે આશ્શૂરના રાજાને બોલાવી લાવશે.

હિઝિક્યા રાજાની કારકિદીર્ના અમલના ચૌદમા વષેર્ આશ્શૂરના રાજા સાન્હેરીબે યહૂદાનાં બધાં કિલ્લેબંદી નગરો ઉપર ચઢાઇ કરીને તે કબ્જે કરી લીધાં.
Nehemiah 9:32
હે અમારા દેવ, હે મહાન શકિતશાળી અને ભયાવહ દેવ; અનંત પ્રેમથી તું કરારનું પાલન કરે છે. અમારા પર, અમારા રાજાઓ, અમારા આગેવાનો, અમારા યાજકો, અમારા પ્રબોધકો અને તમારી આ સમગ્ર પ્રજા પર આશ્શૂરના રાજાઓના સમયથી આજપર્યંત જે યાતનાઓ થઇ છે, તે ઓછી છે એમ ન ગણીશ.

તેણે દેવ યહોવાની ષ્ટિએ ખોટું ગણાય એવું આચરણ કર્યુ. આથી બાબિલનો રાજા નબૂખાદનેસ્સાર તેના ઉપર ચઢી આવ્યો અને તેને સાંકળ બાંધી બાબિલ લઇ ગયો.

તેથી યહોવાએ આશ્શૂરના રાજાના સેનાપતિઓને તેમની સામે મોકલ્યા અને તેઓ મનાશ્શાને આંકડી વતી પકડીને જંજીરથી જકડી બાબિલ લઇ ગયા.

હિઝિક્યા રાજાએ આ સેવાભકિતના કાર્યો નિષ્ઠાપૂર્વક કર્યા પછી આશ્શૂરના રાજા સાન્હેરીબે યહૂદા ઉપર ચઢાઇ કરી અને કિલ્લેબંદીવાળાં શહેરો સામે પડાવ નાખ્યો અને તેમને હુમલો કરીને કબજે કરવાનો હુકમ આપ્યો.

આહાઝ યહૂદાના લોકોને પાપ કરવા માટે પ્રોત્સાહન આપતો હતો. અને તે યહોવાને વફાદાર રહ્યો નહોતો એટલે યહોવાએ યહૂદાના લોકોને નીચા પાડ્યા.

જયારે લોકોએ જોયું કે રાજા આપણી વાત સાંભળતો નથી, ત્યારે તેઓએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “દાઉદ સાથે અમાંરે શું સામ્ય છે? યશાઇના પુત્ર સાથે અમાંરે શું લેવા દેવા છે? ઓ ઇસ્રાએલીઓ, સૌ પોતપોતાને ઘેર પાછા જાઓ; દાઉદ, હવેથી તું તારું ઘર સંભાળ.” આમ, બધાં ઇસ્રાએલીઓ પોતપોતાને ઘેર ચાલ્યા ગયા.
