Isaiah 39:1
આ અરસામાં બાલઅદાનનો પુત્ર મેરોદાખ-બાલઅદાન બાબિલનો રાજા હતો. થોડા સમય પછી તેણે હિઝિક્યા પર પોતાની શુભેચ્છાઓ તથા ઉપહારો મોકલાવ્યાં. હિઝિક્યા મરણતોલ માંદગીમાંથી સાજો થયો છે તેવા સમાચાર તેને મળ્યા હતા.

ખાલદીઓની ભૂમિને જુઓ; આ એ રાષ્ટ છે જે હવે અસ્તિત્વ ધરાવતું નથી, આશ્શૂરે તેને રણના લોકો માટે વસાવ્યો; તેઓએ તેના બૂરજો ઊભા કર્યા અને એક કિલ્લો બાધ્યો. તેઓએ એનાં મહેલને ભોંયભેંગા કર્યા; અને તેનો વિનાશ કર્યો.

તે દિવસે તમે મહેણાં મારીને બાબિલના રાજાને કહેશો કે, “સિતમગાર કેવો શાંતિથી પડ્યો છે,” તેનો ઉગ્ર રોષ કેવો શાંત પડ્યો છે!

“સદોમ અને ગમોરાનો નાશ યહોવાએ આકાશમાંથી આગ મોકલીને કર્યો હતો. તે જ પ્રમાણે રાજ્યોમાં સૌથી ગૌરવવાન, ખાલદીઓના વૈભવ અને ગર્વરૂપ બાબિલ તેમના હાથે ખેદાનમેદાન થઇ જશે.

આમોસના પુત્ર યશાયાને બાબિલ વિષે યહોવાએ સંદર્શન આપ્યું તે આ રહ્યું:

ઘણાં લોકો યરૂશાલેમમાં યહોવાને માટે અર્પણો લાવ્યા, તથા યહૂદાના રાજા હિઝિક્યાને ઉત્તમ વસ્તુઓ ભેટમાં આપી; આ સમયથી તે સર્વ પ્રજાઓમાં નામાંકિત થયો.

એટલે તેણે પોતાના પુત્ર યોરામને રાજા દાઉદને હદાદએઝેર પર વિજય મેળવવા માંટે અને તેના લશ્કરને પરાજય આપવા બદલ અભિનંદન આપવા મોકલ્યો; હદાદેઝરને ટોઈની સાથે હંમેશા યુદ્ધ ચાલ્યા કરતાં હતાં. યોરામ પોતાની સાથે સોના અને ચાંદીથી બનેલી વસ્તુઓ અને પિત્તળનાં વાસણો લઈ ગયો હતો.
