યશાયા 24

1 જુઓ! યહોવા પૃથ્વીનો નાશ કરી નાખશે; તે તેનો વિનાશ કરીને તેને રસકસ વગરની બનાવશે. તે પૃથ્વીના પડને ઉપરતળે કરી નાખે છે અને તેના પર વસતા સર્વજનને વેરવિખેર કરી નાખે છે.

2 બધાની દશા સરખી થશે; યાજકો, અને લોકો, સેવકો અને ધણીઓ, દાસીઓ અને શેઠાણીઓ, ખરીદનારાઓ અને વેચનારાઓ, ઉછીનું લેનારા અને આપનારા, લેણદારો અને દેણદારો.

3 સમગ્ર પૃથ્વી બિલકુલ ઉજ્જડ અને વેરાન થઇ જશે, તેને લૂંટી લેવામાં આવશે, કારણ કે આ યહોવાના વચન છે.

4 પૃથ્વી સૂકાઇ જાય છે અને સંકોચાઇ જાય છે, સૂકી ભૂમિ નકામી થઇ જાય છે અને ક્ષીણ થઇ જાય છે. પૃથ્વી અને આકાશ બંને ક્ષીણ થતા જાય છે.

5 પૃથ્વી તેના વસનારાઓથી ષ્ટ થઇ છે, કારણ કે તેમણે નિયમનું ઉલ્લંધન કર્યુ છે, અને કાયદાઓ તોડ્યાં છે. તેઓએ દેવ સાથેના સનાતન કરારનો ભંગ કર્યો છે.

6 આથી શાપ પૃથ્વીને ભરખી રહ્યો છે અને એમાં વસનારાઓ પોતાના ગુનાની સજા ભોગવી રહ્યા છે. આથી પૃથ્વીની વસ્તી ઘણી ઘટી ગઇ છે અને માત્ર થોડાં જ માણસો બચવા પામ્યા છે.

7 દ્રાક્ષના વેલા કરમાઇ ગયા છે, તેથી દ્રાક્ષનો દ્રાક્ષારસ બનતો નથી, જેઓ મોજ માણતા હતા તેઓ નિસાસા નાખે છે. અને રૂદન કરે છે.

8 વીણાનું સુમધુર સંગીત અને ખંજરીનો અવાજ સંભળાતો બંધ થઇ ગયો છે. આનંદના દિવસોનો અંત આવ્યો છે.

9 હવે લોકો ગીત ગાતાં ગાતાં દ્રાક્ષારસ પીતા નથી, તેમને તે કડવો લાગે છે.

10 નગરી ઉજ્જડ અને વેરાન થઇ ગઇ છે; બધાં ઘરો બંધ થઇ ગયાં છે, તેથી કોઇ વ્યકિત તેમાં પ્રવેશી શકતું નથી.

11 નગરમાં રસ્તાઓ પર લોકો પોકાર કરે છે, કારણ દ્રાક્ષારસ મળતો નથી. આનંદોત્સવ પર અંધકારની છાયા ઊતરી છે, ધરતી પરથી આનંદને દેશવટો દેવાયો છે;

12 સમગ્ર નગર ખંડેર થઇ ગયું છે; તેના દરવાજાઓ તોડી પાડવામાં આવ્યા છે.

13 પૃથ્વી પરના લોકો, જાણે જૈતુન વૃક્ષને ઝૂંડી નાખ્યા હોય તેવા. અથવા દ્રાક્ષ ચૂંટી લીધા પછી દેખાતા દ્રાક્ષવેલા જેવા લાગે છે.

14 પરંતુ બચી ગયેલા તે થોડા લોકો મોટા સાદે આનંદના ગીતો ગાશે. તેઓ યહોવાના મહાત્મ્યને લીધે પશ્ચિમમાં હર્ષનાદ કરશે.

15 તેથી પૂર્વમાં જેઓ છે તેઓ પણ યહોવાના મહિમાની ઘોષણા કરશે. અને દરિયાકાંઠે રહેનારા લોકો પણ ઇસ્રાએલના યહોવા દેવની સ્તુતિ કરશે.

16 પૃથ્વીના બધા છેડેથી આપણે “ન્યાયીનો મહિમા થાઓ” તેમ સાંભળીશું પણ અફસોસ! “હું તો ક્ષીણ થતો જઉં છું, મારા માટે કોઇ આશા નથી. દગાબાજી કરનારા દગાબાજી કરે જાય છે અને દિવસે દિવસે તેઓની દગાબાજીમાં વધારો થતો જાય છે.

17 હે પૃથ્વીવાસીઓ, તમારા માટે ભય, ખાડો અને ફાંસલો જ છે.

18 જે ડર લાગે તેવા સમાચારથી જેઓ દૂર ભાગી જાય છે, તેઓ ખાડામાં પડશે અને જે ખાડામાંથી બહાર નીકળશે તે ફાંસલામાં સપડાશે.” આકાશમાંથી મૂસળધાર વરસાદ વરસશે, પૃથ્વીના પાયા હચમચી જશે.

19 પૃથ્વીનો સંપૂર્ણ વિનાશ થશે, એમાં મોટી મોટી તિરાડો પડશેે, અને ભીષણતાથી ૂજી ઊઠશે.

20 પૃથ્વી પીધેલાની જેમ લથડિયાં ખાશે, તોફાનમાં ફસાયેલા તંબુની જેમ ઝોલા ખાશે, પૃથ્વીના પાપનો ભાર વધી ગયો છે, તેનું એવું પતન થશે કે પછીથી તે ફરીથી ઊઠી શકશે નહિ.

21 તે દિવસે યહોવા આકાશમાંના સૈન્યોને, તથા પૃથ્વી પરના અભિમાની રાજાઓને તથા અધિકારીઓને શિક્ષા કરશે.

22 તે સર્વને કેદીઓની જેમ એકઠાં કરવામાં આવશે અને જ્યાં સુધી તેઓનો ન્યાય કરીને શિક્ષા કરવામાં નહિ આવે ત્યાં સુધી બંદીખાનામાં કેદ કરી રાખવામાં આવશે.

23 સૈન્યોનો દેવ યહોવા યરૂશાલેમમાં સિયોન પર્વત પર રાજા થશે અને લોકોના આગેવાનો સમક્ષ તેનો મહિમા ઝળહળી ઊઠશે. એટલે ચંદ્ર શરમનો માર્યો મોં સંતાડશે, સૂર્ય લજવાઇને ઝાંખો થઇ જશે.

1 Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.

3 The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word.

4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.

5 The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.

6 Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

7 The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.

8 The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.

9 They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.

10 The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

11 There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.

12 In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

13 When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.

14 They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the Lord, they shall cry aloud from the sea.

15 Wherefore glorify ye the Lord in the fires, even the name of the Lord God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

16 From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

18 And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.

19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.

20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.

22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
