જ્યારે તેને દાઉદનાં સંતાવા વિષે ખબર પડી ત્યારે શાઉલ અને તેના મૅંણસો દાઉદની શોધમાં નીકળી પડ્યા. પણ દાઉદને એની જાણ થતાં તે માંઓનના રણમાં એક ખડકની ભેખડમાં ચાલ્યો ગયો. શાઉલને આની ખબર પડી અને ત્યાં તેનો પીછો કર્યો,
