Luke 10

1 આ પછી, પ્રભુએ બીજા વધારે 72 માણસો પસંદ કર્યા અને જે દરેક શહેર અને જગ્યાએ જવાનું તેણે આયોજન કર્યુ હતું, ત્યાં બબ્બેના સમૂહમાં પોતાના પહેલાં મોકલ્યા.

2 ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “પાક ઘણો સારો છે, પણ પાકના કામમાં મજૂરો બહુ થોડા છે, પાકના (લોકો) ધણીને પ્રાર્થના કરો કે તેના પાકને ભેગો કરવામાં મદદ માટે વધારે મજૂરોને મોકલે.

3 “તમે હમણા જઇ શકો છે. પણ ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો! હું તમને મોકલું છું અને તમે વરુંઓમાં ઘેટાંનાં બચ્ચાં જેવા હશો.

4 પૈસા, ઝોળી કે જોડાં કંઈ પણ તમારી સાથે લઈ જશો નહિ. રસ્તામાં કોઈની સાથે વાત કરવા રોકાશો નહિ.

5 કોઈ પણ ઘરમાં પ્રવેશ કરતા પહેલા કહો કે, ‘આ ઘરનાંને શાંતિ થાઓ.’

6 જો શાંતિનો દીકરો ત્યાં રહેતો હોય તો તમારા આશીર્વાદની શાંતિ તેમની સાથે રહેશે. પણ જો, માણસ શાંતિ નહિ રાખતો હોય તો પછી તમારા આશીર્વાદની શાંતિ તમારી પાસે પાછી આવશે.

7 શાંત ઘરમાં જ રહો. લોકો તમને ત્યાં જે કંઈ આપે તે ખાઓ અને પીઓ. કારણ કે મજૂર તેના વેતનને પાત્ર છે. તેથી એક ઘેરથી બીજા ઘેર જશો નહિ.

8 “જો તમે કોઈ શહેરમાં પ્રવેશો અને લોકો તમને આવકારે તો તેઓ તમને જે ખાવાનું આપે તે ખાઓ.

9 ત્યાં રહેતા માંદા લોકોને સાજા કરો, પછી તેઓને કહો, ‘દેવનું રાજ્ય જલદીથી તમારી પાસે આવે છે!’

10 “પણ જો તમે કોઈ શહેરમાં જાઓ અને લોકો તમને આવકારે નહિ તો પછી તે શહેરની શેરીઓમાં જાઓ. અને કહો;

11 ‘તમારા શહેરની જે ધૂળ અમારા પગ પર છે તે પણ અને તમારી સામે ખંખેરી નાખીએ છીએ. પણ એટલું યાદ રાખજો કે દેવનું રાજ્ય જલદી આવે છે.’

12 હું કહું છું કે ન્યાયના દિવસે તે શહેરના લોકોની હાલત સદોમના લોકો કરતાં વધારે ખરાબ થશે.

13 “ઓ ખોરાઝીન, તે તારે માટે ખરાબ છે, ઓ બેથસૈદા, તે તારા માટે ખરાબ છે. મેં તમારામાં ઘણા ચમત્કારો કર્યા છે. તે જો તૂર તથા સિદાનમાં થયા હોય તો, તે શહેરના લોકોએ તેઓનાં જીવનમાં પરિવર્તન કર્યુ હોત અને ઘણા વખત રહેલાં પાપો કરવાનું બંધ કર્યુ હોત. તેઓએ તાટના વસ્ત્રો પહેર્યા હોત અને તેમની જાતે રાખ ચોળીને તેઓએ તેઓનાં પાપો માટે પશ્ચાતાપ દર્શાવ્યો હોત.

14 પરંતુ ન્યાયના દિવસે તૂર અને સિદોન કરતાં તમારા માટે વધારે ખરાબ થશે.

15 અને ઓ કફર-નહૂમ, શું તને આકાશ સુધી ઊંચુ કરાશે? ના! તને તો નરકમાં ફેંકી દેવામાં આવશે!

16 “જ્યારે કોઈ વ્યક્તિ તમને ધ્યાનથી સાંભળે છે, તે વ્યક્તિ ખરેખર મને પણ ધ્યાનથી સાંભળે છે અને જ્યારે કોઈ વ્યક્તિ તમને સ્વીકારવાની ના પીડે, ત્યારે તે મને પણ સ્વીકારવાની ના પાડે છે. અને જે મને સ્વીકારવાની ના પાડે છે, તે જેણે મને અહીં મોકલ્યો છે તેને સ્વીકારવાની ના પાડે છે.”

17 જ્યારે 72 માણસો તેઓનો પ્રવાસ કરીને પાછા ફર્યા ત્યારે તેઓ ઘણા પ્રસન્ન હતા. તેઓએ કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ, જ્યારે અમે તારા નામનો ઉપયોગ કર્યો ત્યારે ભૂતો પણ અમને તાબે થયા.”

18 ઈસુએ તે માણસોને કહ્યું, “મેં શેતાનને આકાશમાંથી વીજળીની પેઠે પડતો જોયો.

19 ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો! મેં તમને સર્પો અને વીંછીઓ પર ચાલવાનો અધિકાર આપ્યો છે. મેં તમને શત્રુંની બધી જ તાકાત કરતાં વધારે તાકાત આપી છે. તમને કશાથી ઇજા થનાર નથી.

20 પણ આનંદ કરો. આત્માઓ તમને તાબે થયા તેથી આનંદી થશો નહિ. એટલે નહિં કે તમારી પાસે સામથ્યૅ છે, તેને બદલે તમારા નામ આકાશમાં લખેલાં છે તેથી આનંદ પામો.”

21 પછી પવિત્ર આત્માથી ઈસુને વધારે આનંદનો અનુભવ થયો. ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “હે બાપ આકાશ અને પૃથ્વીના ધણી, હું તારો આભાર માનુ છું. હું તારી સ્તુતી કરું છું કારણ કે તેં ડાહ્યા અને બુદ્ધીશાળી લોકોથી આ વાતો ગુપ્ત રાખી છે. પણ તેં એ વાતો એવા લોકો કે જે નાનાં બાળકો જેવા છે તેમને તેં પ્રગટ કરી છે. હા બાપ, તેં આ કર્યુ છે કારણ કે તું ખરેખર જે કરવા ઈચ્છતો હતો તે આ જ છે.

22 “મારા બાપે મને બધી વસ્તુઓ આપી છે. દીકરો કોણ છે એ માણસ જાણતો નથી. ફક્ત બાપ જ જાણે છે અને દીકરો જાણેછે કે બાપ કોણ છે. ફક્ત તે લોકો જ જાણશે કે બાપ કોણ છે. તે એ લોકો છે જેને દીકરો તેમને પ્રગટ કરવા પસંદ કરે છે.”

23 ઈસુ તેના શિષ્યો સાથે પાછો ફર્યો. તેઓ ત્યાં ઈસુની સાથે એકલા જ હતાં. ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “તમે હમણા જે જુઓ છો તે જોવા તમને ધન્ય છે!

24 હું તમને કહું છું કે તમે હમણા જે જુઓ છો તે જોવા માટે પ્રબોધકો અને રાજા ઈચ્છતા હતા. પણ તેઓ આ વસ્તુઓ જોઈ શક્યા નથી. અને ઘણા પ્રબોધકો અને રાજાઓ તમે જે હમણા સાંભળો છો તે સાંભળવા ઈચ્છતા હતા, પણ તેઓ આ બાબતો સાંભળી શક્યા નહિ.”

25 પછી એક કાયદાનો પંડિત ઊભો થયો. તે ઈસુનું પરીક્ષણ કરવા પ્રયત્ન કરતો હતો. તેણે કહ્યું, “ઉપદેશક, અનંતજીવનની પ્રાપ્તિ માટે મારે શું કરવું જોઈએ?”

26 ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું, “નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં શું લખ્યું છે? તેમાં તું શું વાંચે છે?”

27 તે માણસે ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “તારે પ્રભુ તારા દેવ પર પૂર્ણ હ્રદયથી તથા તારા પૂરા જીવથી તથા તારા પૂર્ણ સામથ્યૅથી તથા તારા પૂર્ણ મનથી પ્રીતિ કરવી જોઈએ.’તથા, ‘તમે તમારી જાતને જેવો પ્રેમ કરો છો તેવો જ તમારા પડોશી પર પ્રેમ રાખવો.’“

28 ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું, “તારો ઉત્તર ખરો છે. એ જ કરો તેથી તને અનંત જીવન મળશે.”

29 પણ તે માણસ તેની જાતને ન્યાયી ઠરાવવા, પ્રશ્રો પૂછતો હતો. તેથી તેણે ઈસુને કહ્યું, “પણ આ બીજા લોકો કોણ છે જેમને મારે પ્રેમ કરવો જોઈએ?”

30 આ પ્રશ્રનો ઉત્તર આપતા ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “એક માણસ યરૂશાલેમથી યરેખોના રસ્તેથી જતો હતો. કેટલાએક લૂંટારાઓએ તેને ઘેર્યો. તેઓએ તેનાં વસ્ત્રો ઉતારી લીધાં અને માર્યો. પછી તે લૂંટારાઓ તે માણસને જમીન પર પડેલો છોડીને ચાલ્યા ગયા. તે લગભગ મરી ગયો હતો.

31 “એવું બન્યું કે એક યહૂદિ યાજક તે રસ્તા પરથી પસાર થતો હતો. જ્યારે યાજકે તે માણસને જોયો તે તેને મદદ કરવા રોકાયો નહિ, તે દૂર ચાલ્યો ગયો.

32 પછી, લેવીનજીક આવ્યો. લેવીએ ઇજાગ્રસ્ત માણસને જોયો. પણ તેને જોઈને તે પણ બીજી બાજુ ચાલ્યો ગયો. તે પણ તેને મદદ કરવા રોકાયા વગર જ ચાલ્યો ગયો.

33 “પછી એક સમરૂની તે રસ્તેથી પસાર થતો હતો. તે તે જગ્યાએ આવ્યો જ્યાં પેલો ઇજાગ્રસ્ત માણસ પડ્યો હતો. સમરૂનીએ તે માણસને જોયો. તે ઇજાગ્રસ્ત માણસને જોઈ તેને કરૂણા ઉપજી.

34 તે સમરૂની તેની પાસે ગયો અને તેને ઘા પર ઓલિવનું તેલ અને દ્ધાક્ષારસ રેડ્યો. પછી તેણે તે માણસના ઘા પર પાટો બાંધ્યો. સમરૂની પાસે એક ગધેડા હતો. તેણે તે ઇજાગ્રસ્ત માણસને તેના ગધેડા પર બેસાડ્યો અને તેને ધર્મશાળામાં લઈ ગયો. ધર્મશાળામાં સમરૂનીએ તેની માવજત કરી.

35 બીજે દિવસે, સમરૂની બે ચાંદીના સિક્કા લાવ્યો અને ધર્મશાળામાં જે માણસ કામ કરતો હતો તેને આપ્યા. સમરૂનીએ કહ્યું, ‘આ ઇજા પામેલા માણસની માવજત કરજે. જો તેના માટે તું વધારે ખર્ચ કરીશ તો હું જ્યારે ફરી પાછો આવીશ ત્યારે તે આપીશ.”‘

36 પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “હવે લૂંટારાઓથી ઇજા પામેલા પેલા માણસ પર આ ત્રણ માણસોમાંથી (યાજક, લેવી, સમરૂની) ક્યા માણસે પ્રેમ દર્શાવ્યો. તું શું વિચારે છે?”

37 કાયદાના પંડિતે ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “તે એક કે જેણે તને મદદ કરી,”ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું, “તો પછી તું જા અને જઇને બીજા લોકો માટે એ પ્રમાણે કર.”

38 જ્યારે ઈસુ અને તેના શિષ્યો યાત્રા કરતા હતા. ત્યારે ઈસુ એક શહેરમાં ગયો. માર્થા નામની એક સ્ત્રીએ ઈસુને પોતાને ઘેર રાખ્યો.

39 માર્થાને મરિયમ નામની બહેન હતી. મરિયમ ઈસુના પગ પાસે બેઠી હતી અને તેને ઉપદેશ ધ્યાનથી સાંભળતી હતી. પણ તેની બહેન માર્થા ઘરકામમાં વ્યસ્ત હતી.

40 માર્થા ઘણા કામોમાં વ્યસ્ત હતી ઘણું કામ કરવાનું હતું, માર્થા અંદર ગઇ અને કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ, મારી બહેને મને કામ કરવાને એકલી મૂકી છે, તેની શું તને ચિંતા નથી? મને મદદ કરવા માટે તેને કહે!”

41 પણ પ્રભુએ તેને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “માર્થા, માર્થા, તું ઘણી બધી બાબતોમાં ચિંતા કરે છે અને ગભરાય છે.

42 ફક્ત એક જ વાત મહત્વની છે, મરિયમે યોગ્ય પસંદગી કરી છે; અને તે તેની પાસેથી કદાપિ લઈ લેવામાં આવશે નહિ.”

1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.

4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.

5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.

7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,

11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.

15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

17 જ્યારે 72 માણસો તેઓનો પ્રવાસ કરીને પાછા ફર્યા ત્યારે તેઓ ઘણા પ્રસન્ન હતા. તેઓએ કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ, જ્યારે અમે તારા નામનો ઉપયોગ કર્યો ત્યારે ભૂતો પણ અમને તાબે થયા.”

18 ઈસુએ તે માણસોને કહ્યું, “મેં શેતાનને આકાશમાંથી વીજળીની પેઠે પડતો જોયો.

19 ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો! મેં તમને સર્પો અને વીંછીઓ પર ચાલવાનો અધિકાર આપ્યો છે. મેં તમને શત્રુંની બધી જ તાકાત કરતાં વધારે તાકાત આપી છે. તમને કશાથી ઇજા થનાર નથી.

20 પણ આનંદ કરો. આત્માઓ તમને તાબે થયા તેથી આનંદી થશો નહિ. એટલે નહિં કે તમારી પાસે સામથ્યૅ છે, તેને બદલે તમારા નામ આકાશમાં લખેલાં છે તેથી આનંદ પામો.”

22 “મારા બાપે મને બધી વસ્તુઓ આપી છે. દીકરો કોણ છે એ માણસ જાણતો નથી. ફક્ત બાપ જ જાણે છે અને દીકરો જાણેછે કે બાપ કોણ છે. ફક્ત તે લોકો જ જાણશે કે બાપ કોણ છે. તે એ લોકો છે જેને દીકરો તેમને પ્રગટ કરવા પસંદ કરે છે.”

23 ઈસુ તેના શિષ્યો સાથે પાછો ફર્યો. તેઓ ત્યાં ઈસુની સાથે એકલા જ હતાં. ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “તમે હમણા જે જુઓ છો તે જોવા તમને ધન્ય છે!

24 હું તમને કહું છું કે તમે હમણા જે જુઓ છો તે જોવા માટે પ્રબોધકો અને રાજા ઈચ્છતા હતા. પણ તેઓ આ વસ્તુઓ જોઈ શક્યા નથી. અને ઘણા પ્રબોધકો અને રાજાઓ તમે જે હમણા સાંભળો છો તે સાંભળવા ઈચ્છતા હતા, પણ તેઓ આ બાબતો સાંભળી શક્યા નહિ.”

25 પછી એક કાયદાનો પંડિત ઊભો થયો. તે ઈસુનું પરીક્ષણ કરવા પ્રયત્ન કરતો હતો. તેણે કહ્યું, “ઉપદેશક, અનંતજીવનની પ્રાપ્તિ માટે મારે શું કરવું જોઈએ?”

26 ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું, “નિયમશાસ્ત્રમાં શું લખ્યું છે? તેમાં તું શું વાંચે છે?”

27 તે માણસે ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “તારે પ્રભુ તારા દેવ પર પૂર્ણ હ્રદયથી તથા તારા પૂરા જીવથી તથા તારા પૂર્ણ સામથ્યૅથી તથા તારા પૂર્ણ મનથી પ્રીતિ કરવી જોઈએ.’તથા, ‘તમે તમારી જાતને જેવો પ્રેમ કરો છો તેવો જ તમારા પડોશી પર પ્રેમ રાખવો.’“

28 ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું, “તારો ઉત્તર ખરો છે. એ જ કરો તેથી તને અનંત જીવન મળશે.”

29 પણ તે માણસ તેની જાતને ન્યાયી ઠરાવવા, પ્રશ્રો પૂછતો હતો. તેથી તેણે ઈસુને કહ્યું, “પણ આ બીજા લોકો કોણ છે જેમને મારે પ્રેમ કરવો જોઈએ?”

30 આ પ્રશ્રનો ઉત્તર આપતા ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “એક માણસ યરૂશાલેમથી યરેખોના રસ્તેથી જતો હતો. કેટલાએક લૂંટારાઓએ તેને ઘેર્યો. તેઓએ તેનાં વસ્ત્રો ઉતારી લીધાં અને માર્યો. પછી તે લૂંટારાઓ તે માણસને જમીન પર પડેલો છોડીને ચાલ્યા ગયા. તે લગભગ મરી ગયો હતો.

31 “એવું બન્યું કે એક યહૂદિ યાજક તે રસ્તા પરથી પસાર થતો હતો. જ્યારે યાજકે તે માણસને જોયો તે તેને મદદ કરવા રોકાયો નહિ, તે દૂર ચાલ્યો ગયો.

32 પછી, લેવીનજીક આવ્યો. લેવીએ ઇજાગ્રસ્ત માણસને જોયો. પણ તેને જોઈને તે પણ બીજી બાજુ ચાલ્યો ગયો. તે પણ તેને મદદ કરવા રોકાયા વગર જ ચાલ્યો ગયો.

33 “પછી એક સમરૂની તે રસ્તેથી પસાર થતો હતો. તે તે જગ્યાએ આવ્યો જ્યાં પેલો ઇજાગ્રસ્ત માણસ પડ્યો હતો. સમરૂનીએ તે માણસને જોયો. તે ઇજાગ્રસ્ત માણસને જોઈ તેને કરૂણા ઉપજી.

34 તે સમરૂની તેની પાસે ગયો અને તેને ઘા પર ઓલિવનું તેલ અને દ્ધાક્ષારસ રેડ્યો. પછી તેણે તે માણસના ઘા પર પાટો બાંધ્યો. સમરૂની પાસે એક ગધેડા હતો. તેણે તે ઇજાગ્રસ્ત માણસને તેના ગધેડા પર બેસાડ્યો અને તેને ધર્મશાળામાં લઈ ગયો. ધર્મશાળામાં સમરૂનીએ તેની માવજત કરી.

35 બીજે દિવસે, સમરૂની બે ચાંદીના સિક્કા લાવ્યો અને ધર્મશાળામાં જે માણસ કામ કરતો હતો તેને આપ્યા. સમરૂનીએ કહ્યું, ‘આ ઇજા પામેલા માણસની માવજત કરજે. જો તેના માટે તું વધારે ખર્ચ કરીશ તો હું જ્યારે ફરી પાછો આવીશ ત્યારે તે આપીશ.”‘

36 પછી ઈસુએ કહ્યું, “હવે લૂંટારાઓથી ઇજા પામેલા પેલા માણસ પર આ ત્રણ માણસોમાંથી (યાજક, લેવી, સમરૂની) ક્યા માણસે પ્રેમ દર્શાવ્યો. તું શું વિચારે છે?”

37 કાયદાના પંડિતે ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “તે એક કે જેણે તને મદદ કરી,”ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું, “તો પછી તું જા અને જઇને બીજા લોકો માટે એ પ્રમાણે કર.”

38 જ્યારે ઈસુ અને તેના શિષ્યો યાત્રા કરતા હતા. ત્યારે ઈસુ એક શહેરમાં ગયો. માર્થા નામની એક સ્ત્રીએ ઈસુને પોતાને ઘેર રાખ્યો.

39 માર્થાને મરિયમ નામની બહેન હતી. મરિયમ ઈસુના પગ પાસે બેઠી હતી અને તેને ઉપદેશ ધ્યાનથી સાંભળતી હતી. પણ તેની બહેન માર્થા ઘરકામમાં વ્યસ્ત હતી.

40 માર્થા ઘણા કામોમાં વ્યસ્ત હતી ઘણું કામ કરવાનું હતું, માર્થા અંદર ગઇ અને કહ્યું, “પ્રભુ, મારી બહેને મને કામ કરવાને એકલી મૂકી છે, તેની શું તને ચિંતા નથી? મને મદદ કરવા માટે તેને કહે!”

41 પણ પ્રભુએ તેને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “માર્થા, માર્થા, તું ઘણી બધી બાબતોમાં ચિંતા કરે છે અને ગભરાય છે.

42 ફક્ત એક જ વાત મહત્વની છે, મરિયમે યોગ્ય પસંદગી કરી છે; અને તે તેની પાસેથી કદાપિ લઈ લેવામાં આવશે નહિ.”

1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.

4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.

5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.

7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,

11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.

15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
