John 9:8
કેટલાક માણસોએ આ માણસને પહેલા ભીખ માગતો જોયો હતો. આ લોકોએ અને તે માણસના પડોશીઓએ કહ્યું, “જુઓ! આ એ જ માણસ છે જે હંમેશા બેસીને ભીખ માગતો હતો.”

જ્યારે તેઓ મંદિરના પ્રાંગણમાં જતાં હતાં ત્યારે એક માણસ ત્યાં હતો. આ માણસ તેના જન્મથી અપંગ હતો. તે ચાલી શકતો ન હતો, તેથી કેટલાક મિત્રો તેને ઊચકીને લઈ જતા. તેના મિત્રો તેને રોજ મંદિરે લાવતા. તેઓ મંદિરના બહારના દરવાજાની એક તરફ તે લંગડા માણસને બેસાડતા. તે દરવાજો સુંદર નામે ઓળખાતો. ત્યાં મંદિર જતા લોકો પાસે તે માણસ પૈસા માટે ભીખ માગતો.
