સૈનિકોએ કેટલીક કાંટાળી ડાળીઓનો મુગટ બનાવવામાં ઉપયોગ કર્યો. તેઓએ આ કાંટાનો મુગટ ઈસુના માથે મૂક્યો. પછી તે સૈનિકોએ જાંબુડા રંગનો ઝભ્ભો ઈસુને પહેરાવ્યો.
