ઈસુએ તેની માને જોઈ તથા તે જેના પર પ્રેમ રાખતો હતો તે શિષ્યને પણ ત્યાં ઊભેલો જોયો. તેણે તેની માને કહ્યું, “વહાલી બાઈ, તારો દીકરો અહીં છે.”

તે શિષ્ય જે આ બાબત કહે છે, તે જેણે હમણાં આ બાબત લખી છે. અમે જાણીએ છીએ કે તે જે કહે છે તે સાચું છે.

પિતર પાછો વળ્યો અને ઈસુ જે શિષ્યને પ્રેમ કરતો હતો, તેને પાછળ ચાલતો જોયો. (આ તે શિષ્ય હતો જેણે વાળુના સમયે તેની છાતી પર અઢેલીને પૂછયું હતું, “પ્રભુ તારી વિરૂદ્ધ કોણ થશે?”)
