ત્યાં કરિંથમાં પાઉલ અકુલાસ નામના યહૂદિને મળ્યો. અકુલાસ પોન્તસ દેશમાં જનમ્યો હતો. પરંતુ અકુલાસ અને તેની પત્ની પ્રિસ્કિલા તાજેતરમાં ઈટાલીથી કરિંથમાં આવ્યા હતા. તેઓએ ઇટાલી છોડયું કારણ કે કલોદિયસેફરમાન કાઢ્યું હતું કે બધા યહૂદિઓએ રોમ છોડવું. પાઉલ અકુલાસ અને પ્રિસ્કિલાની મુલાકાતે ગયો.
