রাজা হিষ্কিয় আর আমোসের পুত্র ভাব্বাদী যিশাইয় তখন এই সঙ্কটের থেকে রক্ষা পেতে উচ্চস্বরে স্বর্গের উদ্দেশ্যে প্রার্থনা করলেন|

আসা তাঁর প্রভু ঈশ্বরকে ডেকে বললেন, “হে প্রভু, শক্তিশালী প্রতিপক্ষের বিরুদ্ধে দুর্বলদের একমাত্র তুমিই সাহায্য করতে পারো|আমাদের প্রভু, ঈশ্বর তুমি আমাদের সহায় হও| আমরা তোমার ওপর নির্ভর করছি| প্রভু তোমার নাম নিয়ে আমরা এই বিশাল সেনাবাহিনীর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করতে যাচ্ছি| তুমি আমাদের ঈশ্বর| দেখো, তোমার সেনাবাহিনীকে কেউ যেন হারাতে না পারে|”

বললেন, “হে প্রভু! আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর, তুমিই স্বর্গের অধীশ্বর| বিশ্বের প্রত্যেক জাতি ও দেশের ভবিতব্য়ের তুমি নিযামক| তুমি সর্বশক্তিমান, কেউ তোমার বিরোধিতা করতে পারে না|

ঈশ্বর বলেন, “যখন তুমি সংকটে পড়বে তখন আমায় ডেকো! আমি তোমাকে সাহায্য করবো! তারপর তুমি আমাকে সম্মান করতে পারবে|”

রাজা হিষ্কিয় ঐসব ঘটনার কথা শুনেছিলেন| তারপর তিনি তাঁর দুঃখ দেখানোর জন্য নিজের পোশাক ছিঁড়ে ফেললেন| তারপর হিষ্কিয় দুঃখের বিশেষ পোশাক পরলেন এবং প্রভুর মন্দিরে গেলেন|
ইসাইয়া 37:14
হিষ্কিয় বার্তাবাহকের হাত থেকে চিঠিগুলো নিয়ে পড়লেন| তারপর তিনি প্রভুর মন্দিরে গেলেন| তারপর তিনি চিঠিগুলো খুলে প্রভুর সামনে রাখলেন|
