Judges 11:17
ইস্রায়েলীয়রা ইদোমের রাজার কাছে দূত পাঠাল| দূতরা সাহায্য চাইল| তারা বলল, “ইস্রায়েলীয়দের তোমাদের দেশের ওপর দিয়ে যেতে দাও|” কিন্তু ইদোমের রাজা আমাদের যেতে দিল না| মোয়াবের রাজার কাছেও আমরা একই রকম বার্তা পাঠালাম| সেও তার দেশের ওপর দিয়ে আমাদের যেতে দিল না| অগত্যা ইস্রায়েলীয়রা কাদেশেই থেকে গেল|

প্রভু আমাদের ঈশ্বর য়ে দেশ দিচ্ছেন, যর্দন নদী অতিক্রম করে সেই দেশে পৌঁছানো পর্য়ন্ত আমাদের আপনার দেশের মধ্য দিয়ে য়েতে দিন| সেযীরে বসবাসকারী এষৌয লোকরা এবং আর্-এ বসবাসকারী মোয়াবীয় লোকরা তাদের দেশের মধ্য দিয়ে আমাদের য়েতে দিয়েছেন|’

মোয়াবের রাজা মিদিযনের নেতাদের বললেন, “গরু যেভাবে মাঠের সমস্ত ঘাস খেযে ফেলে, ঠিক সেভাবেই এই বিশাল জনগোষ্ঠী আমাদের চারপাশের সমস্ত কিছুই ধ্বংস করে দেবে|”এই সময় সিপ্পোরের পুত্র বালাক মোয়াবের রাজা ছিলেন|
