কিন্তু সেদিন শৌল একটা মস্ত ভুল করেছিলেন| ইস্রায়েলীয়রা ক্লান্ত ও ক্ষুধার্ত হয়ে পড়েছিল| এর কারণ শৌল| তিনি তাদের দিয়ে এই প্রতিশ্রুতি করিযেছিলেন যে সন্ধ্যার আগে এবং আমি শত্রুদের হারিয়ে দেবার আগে যদি কেউ খায় তাহলে তাকে শাস্তি দেওয়া হবে| তাই কোন ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্য কিছু খায় নি|

শৌল য়োনাথনের কথা শুনলেন| শুনে তিনি প্রতিজ্ঞা করে বললেন, “যেমন প্রভুর অস্তিত্ব নিশ্চিত তেমনই নিশ্চিত হও যে দায়ূদকে হত্যা করা হবে না|”
