প্রভু তাই আমাদের সহায়| তিনিই আমাদের প্রকৃত শাসক| তাঁর যাজকরাও আমাদের অনুগত| তাঁরা যখন কাড়া-নাকাড়া, শিঙা বাজান প্রভুর ভক্তরা তাঁর কাছে আসার জন্য ব্যাকুল হয়ে ওঠেন| শোনো ইস্রাযেলবাসীরা, তোমরা তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করো না| তোমরা কখনোই সফল হতে পারবে না|”

্রভু যিহূদার ঈশ্বরের প্রেরিত এক জনকে বৈথেলে যাবার জন্য এবং বেদীর ওপরে পূজো করবার বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলবার জন্য ডেকে পাঠালেন| যখন সেই ভাববাদী বৈথেলে পৌঁছলেন তখন রাজা যারবিয়াম বেদীর সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে ধূপধূনো দিচ্ছিলেন|তিনি গিয়ে ঐ য়জ্ঞবেদীকে সম্বোধন করে বললেন,

তাই রাজা তার পরামর্শদাতাদের কাছে তার করণীয কর্তব্য সম্পর্কে উপদেশ চাইলেন| তাঁরা রাজাকে তাঁদের পরামর্শ দিলেন| তখন যারবিয়াম দুটো সোনার বাছুর বানিয়ে লোকদের বললেন, “তোমরা কেউ আরাধনা করতে জেরুশালেমে যাবে না| ইস্রায়েলের অধিবাসীরা শোনো, এই দেবতারাই তোমাদের মিশর থেকে উদ্ধার করেছিলেন|”
