অবশালোমের জীবনকালে রাজার উপত্যকায সে একটা স্তম্ভ তৈরী করেছিল এবং সেটা নিজের নামে নাম দিয়েছিল কারণ সে ভেবেছিল: “আমার নাম রক্ষা করার জন্য আমার কোন সন্তানাদি নেই|” আজও স্তম্ভটিকে “অবশালোমের স্তম্ভ” বলা হয়|
