கீழே இருக்கிற பாதாளம் உன்னைப்பார்த்து அதிர்ந்து, உன் வருகைக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு, பூமியில் அதிபதிகளாயிருந்து செத்த இராட்சதர் யாவரையும் உனக்காக எழுப்பி, மக்களுடைய எல்லா ராஜாக்களையும் அவர்களுடைய சிங்காசனங்களிலிருந்து எழுந்திருக்கச்செய்கிறது.

சாராயத்தைக் குடிக்க வீரரும், மதுவைக் கலந்துவைக்கப் பராக்கிரமசாலிகளுமாயிருந்து,

களியாட்டும் வெறியும், வேசித்தனமும் காமவிகாரமும், வாக்குவாதமும் பொறாமையும் உள்ளவர்களாய் நடவாமல், பகலிலே நடக்கிறவர்கள்போலச் சீராய் நடக்கக்கடவோம்.

துன்மார்க்கத்திற்கு ஏதுவான மதுபான வெறிகொள்ளாமல், ஆவியினால் நிறைந்து;

வேதப்பிரமாணத்தைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் விவேகமுள்ள புத்திரன்; போஜனப்பிரியருக்குத் தோழனாயிருக்கிறவனோ தன் தகப்பனை அவமானப்படுத்துகிறான்.

சாராயத்தை நாடி அதிகாலமே எழுந்து, மதுபானம் தங்களைச் சூடாக்கும்படி தரித்திருந்து, இருட்டிப்போகுமளவும் குடித்துக்கொண்டேயிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

உங்கள் இருதயங்கள் பெருந்திண்டியினாலும் வெறியினாலும் லவுகீக கவலைகளினாலும் பாரமடையாதபடிக்கும், நீங்கள் நினையாத நேரத்தில் அந்த நாள் உங்கள்மேல் வராதபடிக்கும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்.

திராட்சரசம் பரியாசஞ்செய்யும், மதுபானம் அமளிபண்ணும்; அதினால் மயங்குகிற ஒருவனும் ஞானவானல்ல.

தன் உடன்வேலைக்காரரை அடிக்கத் தொடங்கி, வெறியரோடே புசிக்கவும் குடிக்கவும் தலைப்பட்டால்,

ஐயோ! யாருக்கு வேதனை யாருக்குத் துக்கம்? யாருக்குச் சண்டைகள்? யாருக்குப் புலம்பல்? யாருக்குக் காரணமில்லாத காயங்கள்? யாருக்கு இரத்தங்கலங்கின கண்கள்?

மடிந்துபோகிறவனுக்கு மதுபானத்தையும், மனங்கசந்தவர்களுக்குத் திராட்சரசத்தையும் கொடுங்கள்;

நீங்களோ, சந்தோஷித்துக்களித்து, ஆடுமாடுகளை அடித்து, இறைச்சியைச் சாப்பிட்டு, திராட்சரசத்தைக் குடித்து: புசிப்போம் குடிப்போம், நாளைக்குச் சாவோம் என்று சொல்வீர்கள்.

சில நாளைக்குப்பின்பு, இளையமகன் எல்லாவற்றையும் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, தூர தேசத்துக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், அங்கே துன்மார்க்கமாய் ஜீவனம்பண்ணி, தன் ஆஸ்தியை அழித்துப்போட்டான்.

ஐசுவரியமுள்ள ஒரு மனுஷன் இருந்தான்; அவன் இரத்தாம்பரமும் விலையேறப்பெற்ற வஸ்திரமும் தரித்து, அநுதினமும் சம்பிரமமாய் வாழ்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தான்.
