‘எகிப்திலிருந்து வந்தவர்களில் 20 வயதும் அதற்கு மேலும் உள்ளவர்களில் எவரும் அந்த நாட்டை காண்பதற்கு அனுமதிக்கப்படுவதில்லை. நான் ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் யாக்கோபுக்கும் இந்த நாட்டைக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று வாக்குறுதி கொடுத்தேன். ஆனால் அவர்கள் என்னை உண்மையாக பின்பற்றவில்லை. எனவே இந்த நாட்டை அவர்கள் பெறுவதில்லை.
