எந்த ஊழியக்காரனும் இரண்டு எஜமான்களுக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்யக்கூடாது, ஒருவனைப் பகைத்து மற்றவனைச் சிநேகிப்பான், அல்லது ஒருவனைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு மற்றவனை, அசட்டைபண்ணுவான். தேவனுக்கும் உலகப்பொருளுக்கும் ஊழியஞ்செய்ய உங்களாலே கூடாது என்றார்.

உலகத்திலும் உலகத்திலுள்ளவைகளிலும் அன்புகூராதிருங்கள்; ஒருவன் உலகத்தில் அன்புகூர்ந்தால் அவனிடத்தில் பிதாவின் அன்பில்லை.

இரண்டு எஜமான்களுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்ய ஒருவனாலும் கூடாது; ஒருவனைப் பகைத்து ஒருவனைச் சிநேகிப்பான். அல்லது ஒருவனைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு மற்றவனை அசட்டைபண்ணுவான்; தேவனுக்கும் உலகப் பொருளுக்கும் ஊழியஞ்செய்ய உங்களால் கூடாது.

விபசாரரே, விபசாரிகளே, உலக சிநேகம் தேவனுக்கு விரோதமான பகையென்று அறியீர்களா? ஆகையால் உலகத்துக்குச் சிநேகிதனாயிருக்க விரும்புகிறவன் தேவனுக்குப் பகைஞனாகிறான்.

கர்த்தரைச் சேவிக்கிறது உங்கள் பார்வைக்கு ஆகாததாய்க் கண்டால், பின்னை யாரைச் சேவிப்பீர்கள் என்று இன்று தெரிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்; நதிக்கு அப்புறத்தில் உங்கள் பிதாக்கள் சேவித்த தேவர்களைச் சேவிப்பீர்களோ? நீங்கள் வாசம்பண்ணுகிற தேசத்துக் குடிகளாகிய எமோரியரின் தேவர்களைச் சேவிப்பீர்களோ? நானும் என் வீட்டாருமோவென்றால், கர்த்தரையே சேவிப்போம் என்றான்.

யாதொருவன் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து, தன் தகப்பனையும் தாயையும் மனைவியையும் பிள்ளைகளையும் சகோதரனையும் சகோதரிகளையும், தன் ஜீவனையும் வெறுக்காவிட்டால் எனக்குச் சீஷனாயிருக்கமாட்டான்.

நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன், நீங்கள் மாளும்போது உங்களை நித்தியமான வீடுகளிலே ஏற்றுக்கொள்வாருண்டாகும்படி, அநீதியான உலகப்பொருளால் உங்களுக்குச் சிநேகிதரைச் சம்பாதியுங்கள்.

அன்றியும் மாம்சத்தின்படி நடக்கிறவர்கள் மாம்சத்துக்குரியவைகளைச் சிந்திக்கிறார்கள்; ஆவியின்படி நடக்கிறவர்கள் ஆவிக்குரியவைகளைச் சிந்திக்கிறார்கள்.

என்னோடே இராதவன் எனக்கு விரோதியாயிருக்கிறான், என்னோடே சேர்க்காதவன் சிதறடிக்கிறான்.

அப்பொழுது இயேசு: அப்பாலே போ சாத்தானே; உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு அவர் ஒருவருக்கே ஆராதனை செய்வாயாக என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறதே என்றார்.

மரணத்துக்கேதுவான பாவத்துக்கானாலும், நீதிக்கேதுவான கீழ்ப்படிதலுக்கானாலும், எதற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியும்படி உங்களை அடிமைகளாக ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறீர்களோ, அதற்கே கீழ்ப்படிகிற அடிமைகளாயிருக்கிறீர்களென்று அறியீர்களா?
