அவன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய உசியா செய்தபடியெல்லாம் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் அவனைப்போலக் கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திற்குள் பிரவேசியாதிருந்தான்; ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் தங்களைக் கெடுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

கர்த்தர் செய்ய விரும்பியதையே, யோதாம் செய்து வந்தான். அவன் தன் தந்தை உசியாவைப் போலவே தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து வந்தான். ஆனால் தன் தந்தையைப் போல யோதாம் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்குள் நுழைந்து நறுமணப் பொருட்களை எரிக்க முயலவில்லை. எனினும் ஜனங்கள் தொடர்ந்து தவறு செய்தனர்.
