யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயா கிரேத்தியருக்கும் பிலேத்தியருக்கும் தலைவனாயிருந்தான்; தாவீதின் குமாரரோ பிரதானிகளாயிருந்தார்கள்.

அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரும், கிரேத்தியர் யாவரும் பிலேத்தியர் யாவரும் அவன் பக்கத்திலே நடந்துபோனார்கள்; காத்தூரிலிருந்து கால்நடையாய் வந்திருந்த அறுநூறுபேராகிய கித்தியர் எல்லாரும் ராஜாவுக்குமுன்பாக நடந்தார்கள்.

அப்படியே யோவாபின் மனுஷரும், கிரேத்தியரும் பிலேத்தியரும், சகல பலசாலிகளும் அவன் பிறகாலே புறப்பட்டு, பிக்கிரியின் குமாரனாகிய சேபாவைப் பின்தொடர எருசலேமிலிருந்து போனார்கள்.

யோவாப் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லா இராணுவத்தின்மேலும், யோய்தாவின்குமாரனாகிய பெனாயா கிரேத்தியர்மேலும் பிலேத்தியர்மேலும் தலைவராயிருந்தார்கள்.

இந்த மூன்றுபேர்களில் அவன் மேன்மையுள்ளவனாயிருந்ததினாலல்லவோ, அவர்களில் தலைவனானான்; ஆனாலும் அந்த முந்தின மூன்று பேருக்கு அவன் சமமானவன் அல்ல.

அப்படியே ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவும், கிரேத்தியரும் பிலேத்தியரும் போய், சாலொமோனைத் தாவீது ராஜாவினுடைய கோவேறுகழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றி, அவனைக் கீகோனுக்கு நடத்திக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

ராஜா ஆசாரியனாகிய சாதோக்கையும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய நாத்தானையும், யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயாவையும், கிரேத்தியரையும் பிலேத்தியரையும் அவனோடே அனுப்பினார்; அவர்கள் அவனை ராஜாவுடைய கோவேறுகழுதையின்மேல் ஏற்றினார்கள்.

அப்படியே யோய்தாவின் குமாரன் பெனாயா போய், அவன்மேல் விழுந்து அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்; அவன் வனாந்தரத்திலிருக்கிற தன்னுடைய வீட்டிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்.

அவர்கள் ஆரோனுடைய குமாரரின் கீழ்க் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் ஊழியமாய் நின்று, பிராகாரங்களையும், அறைகளையும், சகல பரிசுத்த பணிமுட்டுகளின் சுத்திகரிப்பையும், தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் ஆராதனைக்கடுத்த வேலையையும் விசாரிப்பதும்,

சமுத்திரக்கரை குடிகளாகிய கிரேத்தியருக்கு பெலிஸ்தரின் தேசமாகிய கானானே, கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை உனக்கு விரோதமாயிருக்கிறது; இனி உன்னில் குடியில்லாதபடிக்கு உன்னை அழிப்பேன்.
