Ezekiel 15
1 তখন প্রভুর বাক্য আমার কাছে এল| তিনি বললেন:
2 “মনুষ্যসন্তান, দ্রাক্ষালতার কাঠের খণ্ডগুলো বনের বৃক্ষের ছোট কাঁটা ডালের থেকে কোন অংশে উত্তম?”
3 দ্রাক্ষালতার সেই কাঠ কি কোন কিছু তৈরী করার জন্য ব্যবহার করা যায়? না! সেই কাঠ দিয়ে কি থালা ঝোলানোর জন্য কীলক তৈরী করা যায়? না!
4 লোকে সেই কাঠ কেবল জ্বালানী হিসাবে ব্যবহার করে| কাঠগুলির কিছু কিছুর সামনে পিছনে আগুন ধরে| মাঝখানের অংশও আগুনে কালো হয়ে যায় কিন্তু কাঠিটি সম্পূর্ণরূপে পোড়ে না| সেই পোড়া কাঠ দিয়ে কি কিছু তৈরী করতে পারো? না!
5 যদি পোড়াবার আগে তা দিয়ে কোন কাজ না হল তবে এটা নিশ্চিত যে পোড়াবার পরেও তা কোন কাজে লাগবে না| তাই দ্রাক্ষালতার কাঠের টুকরোগুলো বনের বৃক্ষের কাঠের টুকরোর মতই|
6 লোকরা সেই টুকরোগুলো আগুনে ফেলে দেয় আর আগুন তা পুড়িয়ে দেয়| সেইভাবেই, আমি জেরুশালেমে বাসকারী লোকদের আগুনে ছুঁড়ে ফেলব|” প্রভু আমার সদাপ্রভু এই সব কথা বলেছেন|
7 “আমি ঐ লোকদের শাস্তি দেব| কিন্তু কিছু লোক সেই লাঠির মত হবে যা সম্পূর্ণ দহয় না- তাদের শাস্তি হলেও তারা সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস হবে না| তোমরা দেখবে যে আমি ঐ লোকেদের শাস্তি দিয়েছি, আর তোমরা জানবে যে আমিই প্রভু|”
8 আমি ঐ দেশ ধ্বংস করব কারণ লোকরা আমায় পরিত্যাগ করেছে|” প্রভু আমার সদাপ্রভু এসব কথা বলেছেন|
1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?
3 Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?
4 Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?
5 Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?
6 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them.
8 And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord God.
