Job 38

1 তখন প্রভু ঝোড়ো বাতাসের মধ্যে থেকে কথা বলে উঠলেন| প্রভু বললেন:

2 “কে এই অজ্ঞ লোক য়ে বোকার মত কথা বলছে?”

3 ইয়োব, নিজেকে প্রস্তুত করে নাও, সৈনিকের মত অস্ত্রে সজ্জিত হয়ে নাও| এবং আমি য়ে প্রশ্ন করবো তার উত্তর দেবার জন্য তৈরী হও|

4 “ইয়োব, আমি যখন পৃথিবী সৃষ্টি করেছিলাম তখন তুমি কোথায় ছিলে? যদি তুমি প্রকৃতই জ্ঞানী হও তাহলে আমাকে উত্তর দাও|

5 যদি তুমি এতই জ্ঞানী হও তো বল এই পৃথিবীটা কত বড় হবে তা কে স্থির করেছিল? পরিমাপক রেখা দিয়ে কে পৃথিবীটার পরিমাপ করেছে?

6 পৃথিবীর ভিত্তি স্তম্ভগুলি কিসের ওপর বসে রযেছে? তার জায়গায় কে প্রথম নির্মান-প্রস্তর রেখেছে?

7 যখন তা সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছিল তখন প্রভাতের তারাসমূহ এক সঙ্গে গান গেযেছিল| দেবদূতরা আনন্দে হর্ষধ্বনি করেছিল|

8 “ইয়োব, পৃথিবীর গভীর থেকে যখন সমুদ্র প্রবাহিত হতে শুরু করেছিল তখন কে তা বন্ধ করার জন্য দ্বাব রুদ্ধ কষ্ঠরছিল?

9 সেই সময়, নবজাতককে পোশাক পরাবার মত আমি একটি পোশাকের মত মেঘগুলোকে চারদিকে জড়িয়ে দিয়েছিলাম এবং তাকে, একটি শিশুকে য়েমন শক্ত করে কাপড় দিয়ে জড়িয়ে দেওয়া হয় সেই ভাবে অন্ধকার দিয়ে ঢেকে দিয়েছিলাম|

10 আমি সমুদ্রের সীমা নির্ধারণ করেছিলাম, এবং তাকে বাঁধের অন্যদিকে রেখেছিলাম|

11 আমি সমুদ্রকে বলেছিলাম, ‘তুমি এই পর্য়ন্ত আসতে পার, এর বেশী নয়| এই খানেই তোমার উদ্ধত ঢেউ য়েন থেমে যায়|’

12 “ইয়োব, তোমার জীবনে তুমি কি কখনও সকাল বা দিনকে শুরু হবার আদেশ দিয়েছ?

13 ইয়োব, তুমি কি সকালের আলোকে কখনও বলেছো: পৃথিবীকে ধারণ কর এবং মন্দ লোকদের তাদের গোপন ড়েবা থেকে তাড়িত কর?

14 প্রভাতের আলো, পাহাড় এবং উপত্যকা সহজেই দেখতে সহায়তা করে| যখন দিনের আলো পৃথিবীতে এসে পড়ে, তখন জামার ভাঁজের মত সেই স্থানের রূপ সহজেই বোঝা যায়| সেই স্থান, শীলমোহর দিয়ে ছাপ মারা নরম কাদার মতই (সমতল) আকৃতি ধারণ করে|

15 মন্দ লোকরা দিনের আলো পছন্দ করে না| দিনের আলো যখন উজ্জ্বল হয়ে ওঠে তখন তা তাদের মন্দ কাজ করা থেকে বিরত করে|

16 “ইয়োব, যেখানে সমুদ্র শুরু হয়, সেই গভীরতম সমুদ্রে তুমি কি কখনও গিয়েছো? তুমি কি কখনও সমুদ্রের তলদেশ দিয়ে হেঁটেছো?

17 ইয়োব, তুমি কি কখনও মৃত্যুলোকের দ্বাব এবং গভীর অন্ধকার দেখেছ?

18 ইয়োব, এই পৃথিবীটা য়ে কত বড় তা কি তুমি সত্যি সত্যিই বোঝ? যদি তুমি এসব বুঝে থাকো, আমায় বল|

19 “ইয়োব, কোথা থেকে আলো আসে? কোথা থেকে অন্ধকার আসে?

20 ইয়োব, য়েখান থেকে আলো ও অন্ধকার আসে, তুমি কি তাদের সেখানে ফিরিযে নিয়ে য়েতে পারবে? তুমি কি জানো সেই জায়গায় কি করে য়েতে হয়?

21 এইগুলো তুমি নিশ্চয় জানো, ইয়োব| কারণ তুমি বয়ঃবৃদ্ধ এবং জ্ঞানী| যখন আমি এসব সৃষ্টি করেছিলাম তখন তুমি জীবিত ছিলে, তাই না?

22 “ইয়োব, য়ে ভাণ্ডারে আমি তুষার এবং শিলাবৃষ্টি সঞ্চয় করে রাখি তুমি কি কখনও সেখানে গিয়েছিলে?

23 সঙ্কট কালের জন্য এবং যুদ্ধবিগ্রহের জন্য আমি শিলাবৃষ্টি ও তুষার সঞ্চয় করে রাখি|

24 তুমি কি কখনও সেই জায়গায় গিয়েছো য়েখান থেকে সূর্য় উদিত হয়, য়েখান থেকে সারা পৃথিবীতে পূবের বাতাস প্রবাহিত হয়?

25 প্রচণ্ড বৃষ্টির জন্য কে আকাশে খাদ খনন করেছে? কে ঝড় বিদ্যুতের জন্য পথ প্রস্তুত করেছে?

26 যেখানে কোন লোকই বসবাস করে না সেখানেও কে বৃষ্টি নিয়ে যায়?

27 সেই বৃষ্টি, শূন্য ভূমিতে প্রচুর জল দেয় এবং ঘাস গজিয়ে ওঠে|

28 এই বৃষ্টির কি কোন জনক আছে? শিশির বিন্দুর পিতা কে?

29 বরফের কি কোন জননী আছে? তুষারকে কে জন্ম দেয়?

30 জল পাথরের মত শক্ত হয়ে জমে যায়| এমনকি সমুদ্রও জমে যায়!

31 “ইয়োব, তুমি কি কৃত্তিকা নক্ষত্রমালাকে এক সঙ্গে বাঁধতে পারো? তুমি কি কালপুরুষের বন্ধনকে মুক্ত করতে পারো?

32 তুমি কি ঠিক সময়ে নক্ষত্রমণ্ডলীকে বার করতে পারো? তুমি কি বিরাট ভালুকটিকে তার শাবকসহ পরিচালিত করতে পারো?

33 য়ে বিধির দ্বারা আকাশ শাসিত হয়, তা কি তুমি জানো? তুমি কি পৃথিবীর ওপর ক্রমানুসারে তাদের সাজাতে পারো?

34 “ইয়োব, তুমি কি বৃষ্টির দিকে চেয়ে, তাদের নির্দেশ দিতে পারো, তোমাকে বৃষ্টিতে ঢেকে দিতে?

35 তুমি কি বিদ্যুতকে আদেশ করতে পারো? তারা কি তোমার কাছে এসে বলবে, ‘আপনি কোথায়? আপনি কি চান প্রভু?’ তুমি যেখানে চাও, তারা কি সেখানে যাবে?

36 ইয়োব, কে মানুষকে জ্ঞানী করে? কে তাদের অন্তরে প্রজ্ঞা দান করে?

37 এমন জ্ঞানী কে আছে য়ে মেঘ গণনা করতে পারে? কে তাদের বৃষ্টি ঝরানোর নির্দেশ দেয়?

38 ধূলো পরিণত হয় কাদায় এবং এক সঙ্গে দলা পাকিয়ে থাকে|

39 “ইয়োব, তুমি সিংহের জন্য খাদ্য খুঁজে দাও? তুমি কি ওদের ক্ষুধার্ত শিশুদের খেতে দাও?

40 এই সিংহরা তাদের গুহায় লুকিয়ে থাকে| শিকার ধরবার জন্য তারা লম্বা ঘাসের মধ্যে লুকিয়ে ঘাপটি মেরে বসে থাকে|

41 যখন দাঁড় কাকের ছানারা ঈশ্বরের কাছে সাহায্যের জন্য চিত্কার করে এবং নিরন্ন হয়ে ঘুরতে থাকে, তখন কে দাঁড় কাকদের খেতে দেয়?

1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

9 When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,

10 And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

12 Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;

13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

14 It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.

15 And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

16 Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

17 Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

18 Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

19 Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,

20 That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

21 Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

24 By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?

25 Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

26 To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

27 To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

28 Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

29 Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

30 The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

31 Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

32 Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

33 Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

34 Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

35 Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?

36 Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

37 Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven,

38 When the dust groweth into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together?

39 Wilt thou hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions,

40 When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

41 Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.
